Microsoft Flight Simulator X

Today Microsoft released a demo for the game and my borther went straight to downloading when he found out. From all the screenshots I've seen and what not and heard about the game, this game is pretty amazing. The graphics are clear cut and nice and smooth. Its just purely from how they went from Flight Simulator 2004 to X. Compare a couple screenshots and you'll see what am talking about. I am most likely going to end up buying this game because of what an awesome job Microsoft has done with the franchise

Post Flight Sim X

The other day I went to Wal-Mart and almost got Flight Sim 2004 just for the hell of it. Then I get home and see a commercial for a new one. Irony for 'ya!

I looked it up on IGN, GameSpot, and Microsoft's website. It looks pretty damn good!

I downloaded the free trial but my computer didn't like it, so I got a new Video Card and I am about to see if it works now.

I don't know why but I like the Flight Sim games. My Uncle (a weird one with no life) was going to set up a few computer monitors positioned to look like a cockpit, then but various buttons and stuff, and set up a working cockpit for flight Sim. He didn't do it, he realised he had a kid. (I have a weird family)

What do you guys think? Will you be getting it? Have you even heard of this game?

I have seen a bunch of commercials for it on TV. The graphics look very realistic, but I'm not into these type of games. I used to have a Flight Sim from '99, but it got too boring too fast.

Yea they do get very boring sometimes.... most of the time then.

I used to just fly around and I got bored as hell. Then I found that you were supposed to keep in contact with air traffic control, that made it a little less boring because it broke game-play up a bit. It does bore me, but I still like the games for some reason.

I think that now it has missions, it wont be as boring. I think there's one where you have to rescue some people from a burning oil rig and stuff, land on aircraft carriers, land on a moving school bus, etc. Maybe that will lessen the bore?

Anyway, overall it looks pretty decent, but if it is a boring as the others, I will stop playing them.

I agree with you about the "missions." I also saw what appears to be a race mode, similar to the air races Red Bull sponsors. I'm sure with these new features it won't be as boring, but I won't waste money on it.

Yea there's a Red Bull race, I think Red Bull are actually sponsoring the game, but they are more "behind the scenes".

I wont pay full whack for it, I will wait for it to come down. I think my Step Dad wants it and my computer is the only one in the house that will run it, so he can pay for it, I can play it.

If you want to try it out, go to Microsoft's site, they have a nice trial. Contains about 5 different aircraft, 2 "missions", and free flight ability. Its good to see if you want to buy it or not.

Its a little on the slow side when you download it though.... very slow!

System Requirements: Here

Yes, there is online mode.

You can fly all over the "world" and make friends along the way. People on GameSpot gave examples of making aerobatic (stunt) shows and stuff like that.

You can also act as Air Traffic Controller, sit in the "tower" and tell planes when and where to land, etc. I was looking over the controls because I wasn't sure on what the buttons were, and I noticed a button named "Follow Player". My only reasoning behind this is that its a feature online, to find your friend and follow his/her plane?

The online part sounds like the best bit!

I think the system requirements are a little high though! It need 14gb on your hardrive if I read it right.

On that link I gave you, look just under the "System Requirements" where it says "Downloads" and there's a link to the trial.

I have a 256mb and it was slow even when playing the trailer, so I think using anything less will really lead to no point in playing.

I wont be getting the full version, but I saw that there was only 1 copy of the Deluxe version left, and about 10 of the regular version left in my local Wal-Mart, so I asked a Guy who worked there and he told me that they are selling twice as many deluxe editions than the regular one, so statistics say go for the deluxe version. Like i said I wont be getting either, but I would rather get the regular (cheaper) version.
