You know, clans are tough, I mean you are in effect managing 16 employees, or a little league team...
IMHO, you are better off taking a look at what you want in a clan (ie:fun, rank, competition within, without) and build around that. I have a clan that stays at a full roster of 16 most of the time. We practice or war 2 nights a week, have a msg board and email list to communicate, and have become pretty good friends (online at least).
The thing is, no one in my clan worries about rank and if someone has a bad night or game or whatever...it is all about shooting the shiat and having a good time. I think the last one is the most important.
I mean as a leader, I have to set starting lineups, make sure we put out strong teams and also make sure everyone gets some time on the field. If they were all immature egomaniacs it would not work.
Recruit slowly and make sure that everyone is a good fit for whatever you are trying to do...and remember, being a leader ain't always easy.
