According to advance copies of the GameStop-owned magazine, Modern Warfare 2 will be set several years after its predecessor. Once again, political instability inside a fictional near-future Russia threatens the world--this time, in the form of a terrorist organization hinted at by a March teaser trailer. One of COD4's two heroes, Sergeant "Soap" MacTavish, has been promoted to captain in the Special Air Services (SAS), Britain's equivalent of the US Navy SEALs. Now part of a new commando unit, MacTavish will guide players through a series of grueling missions, including an ice-climbing infiltration of a frozen Russian army base.
In terms of gameplay, Modern Warfare 2 will address the issue of infinitely spawning enemies, a major criticism of the original game. However, those looking for a single-player campaign longer than the original's 6-10 hours are out of luck. "Stretching out the story seems like the wrong way to go," Infinity Ward CCO and president Jason West told Game Informer.
The new game boasts a new "Special Forces" mode which is similar to the "Mile High Club," the ultra-difficult airplane hijack level unlocked after completing COD4 on veteran difficulty. However, the cooperative campaign many had hoped would be in Modern Warfare 2 is MIA. "We did a whole lot of co-op stuff early on that we were interested in, and it didn’t work with the story at all," West said.
Sweet looking good wonder what the US Team will be since the marines got nuked. The screens of the Littlebirds makes me think Delta or SEALs. Not too worried about the SP all thats there for is the inevitable server overload and online crashing the first few days.

I'm a little disappointed their not going to lengthen the SP, I though 4 was a little too short, but that's not something that's going to hold me back from getting this. I'm waiting a little longer to pre-order, I wanna see what their going to include in the collector's edition.

This better mean that they just left co-op out of single player but two people can play on the same console while playing online like in halo or gears. Halo did this years ago with Halo 2 and it was a success, it blows my mind that more companies are still not putting this in.

Most sports games allow it, but not very many shooters do. I think one of the Rainbow Six games allowed for it back on the PS2 though.
There is very little if anything about multiplayer. They must be waiting till the 24th.

I was wondering what he meant by this as well. My thoughts where something like they would broadcast on the message of the day area the player of the week or month. Or they might do something like Killzone where they give the top % a little indicator next to their name in game. Either way this game is really looking a lot better then I thought it would. I am really excited about the riot shields. I hope they put them in the online game modes I think that could add a lot of fun. Really looking forward to playing in the jungles of Brazil as well as the snow levels.
I'm still waiting to see what you get with the collectors edition before I pre-order this one. I don't wanna get the original and get just a poster and have something epic come with the collectors edition. Either version is going to be badass.

hmmm... must be something with the Kill Streaks..
Don't get me started on kill streaks. I got 21 or 22 on WAW but i've never been able to get more than 18 on cod ps3 or 360. Every single time i get one going i run out of ammo, have to reload and some scrub kills me.
