... TPS just makes everything a campfest (See: SOCOM). It's just too easy to wait for someone to come down the path as you're waiting at the corner or bush or such.
Completely untrue, as of late... aside from the occasional camper in a ranked elimination match, this is hardly a problem with the game anymore. I can't remember the last time that I thought the game was a "campfest". I'm only saying this because that's what I've noticed as I've been playing the game more often the past few weeks.
nice thread. in the single player, play the role of a kidnapped reporter that has to escape a terrorist stronghold to keep from being beheaded. you wont be able to pick up weapons, maybe only carry a knife. the whole level would have to deal heavily with stealth and once youre seen its GAME OVER

I haven't played 4. I'm pretty much referring to 3... And the annoying players on 2 and 1. I can still remember playing Socom 1 on Desert Storm (I think?) and it was known that if you're going to get the hostages, there will be someone waiting on the right side of that skinny hallway that happens to be the only way to get in. So you know to toss a grenade in there before entering, simply from constantly dying in that same spot.

Riiiiiight..... LAME
I mean the sniper stealth missions were cool, but this is a complete not-for-COD scenario.

Wasn't this already the plot in a made for TV movie... like, something that they would broadcast at two or three o'clock in the morning?

Its not hard to make a third person shooter with a dynamic camera which moves closer to the player as the player moves closer to walls and obstacles. I've seen it before, I just can't remember where. It stops people from standing at corners all day long, but the gameplay is undiminished.
They should make every game type have a hardcore variant... I know that CoD 4 only recently made HQ hardcore. Objectives would be very hard to accomplish, particularly on Sabotage and CTF, but they had hardcore War on WaW... with 18 players in the room it was extremely difficult to capture flags, as a single signal flare thrown at the flag could kill multiple would-be capturers. But it was still better than a deathmatch.
They should also change it so that bullets come out of the guns, not the player's skull.
It needs to be more like the first one not like w@w which copied the format for cod4 mutilplayer. dont get me wrong i liked the game. but i do think they should keep nazi zombies or some form of it.

I agree with that. After playing hardcore so often I get annoyed when I'm playing a normal match. I love the realism they implemented.
I would love to see all modes in hardcore as stated above. Also maybe make some better customization on the character. Like different clothes ie. hats,gloves... things of that nature. I loved how they had the camo for the guns but I would like to see them make some more options for the pistols like different types of ammo such as hollowpoints and things like that. What would also be neat would be streak perk like maybe a gun jammer type thing if you get like a 15 kill streak where the opponent would have a chance of their weapon locking up. Would make it quite realistic.
1. I would like to see more Gun Customization similar to Socom. I would love to have an M4 with a Red-Dot AND a silencer. At least 2 attachments for each gun.
2. Third Person! This makes the game play so much better and also makes it seem much more advanced (unlike Wolfenstien or Doom)
3. LARGER MAPS - Where you could play non-respawn and more realistic game modes. Where sniping was actually effective.
4. The Gun Cammo is completely useless. Why do you want a blue gun?
Basically, SOCOM with the graphics and stability of COD4.

So, basically, you want a game that turns into a giant camporgy the day of release, instead of 2 months after? Sounds fun
It was a non-playable scene to set the preface for the entire story of the game. So what's your point?
I believe that if they implement a fully fleshed out chapter and if done correctly. Can be grounds for some compelling gameplay. Something of this nature is relevant to the modern war of our times. The developers have full freedom (i believe) to implement what ever they want on a chapter like this. I still belive its a good idea, the people that dont, just probably dont have the imagination to see how this can work out correctly....oh well. We all have opinions. I also believe that the developers were asking for ideas, mostly for the single player campaign anyways.

1. I can agree with that or you have to at least reach a certain level or point in the game to have that option unlocked.
2. Dumb... dumb dumb dumb.
3. Sniping is REALLY EASY in CoD4. You must be horrible at it because I have no trouble at all sniping on some of the smallest maps.
4. It gives you something to do. There's no harm in gun camo.
5. CoD and SOCOM are two completely different games and SOCOM screwed up constantly after SOCOM 2 so why follow?
