The MP5's sights are only alright, but I agree on the G3. But actually, the Skorpion has really nice iron sights, and the RPD is quite nice too.
The M60 (LMG) has horrible iron sights, and I mean disgustingly crap.
I think the shotguns both have good sights but the rest of the gun gets in the way a bit. You can easily survive using a shotgun with a grip rather than the red dot. That's how I most of my kills when people are door camping on Vacant.

Who ACTUALLY uses the sights on shotguns? I never aim those things, I hip fire everytime.
I have a bad habit of always aiming.. unless i get spooked, then i hip fire and im usually also screaming because i didnt know a guy was gonna run up on me.
actually in selecting the best gun for multiplayer is by choosing it according to the map selected. It also depends on how the player handle its character eventhough the character is equipped with the best gun
Its better to have a sniper rifle if the map is wide and surrounded with mountains
You can also have an advantage bringing a M16 rifle in a large map with difficult terrain
bring M60 or submachine gun in a close quarter battle or smaller maps.
be sure to have lots of grenades and claymore during battles.
and lastly it will depend on how good the player is.
My buddy just got with the times and purchased 360 & COD4, so I have been playing it alot again. I have a new friend and it's the M1014 Shotgun with the front grip. I love running up on someone camping and peppering their face with a Shotgun Blast. It's very rewarding.
Just last night I ran into a Room on District with 3 enemies in the same room in the Last Stand Position and just finished them off. It was Beautiful.

I've run straight across the middle of Countdown on S&D with the auto-shotty every round before and ended the game 19-0. I was playing like the wind that game and I loved it!
This is also just an opinion, there is no 'official' best gun. Different playing styles require different weaponry.
Correct. There are guns that are preferred more over others to most players but it's all a matter of opinion and your skill of being able to use the gun. However, the M16A4 is not the absolute best choice on all maps no matter how you play. Take Shipment for example, you can use an M16 on that map but using an M16 with a silencer is absolutely pointless plus the map is so small that an MP5 or Skorpion can do the job with range just as easily and have better advantages close up.

See, I prefer the M16 close-up. I use Steady Aim.
I have never been in a situation where my M16 didn't give me the best chance at getting a kill.
The only maps that I feel the M16 doesn't give me the best chance to get a kill are Shipment and Showdown. These are maps are far to small for the M16 to be effective for me, although I don't doubt that people can be successful with them on those maps. I usually grab a P90 or a MP5 while playing those maps, while using the M16 for every other map (It's a beast especially on Countdown for me).
