    Call of Duty 4 (360)

I posted this in the 360 section because it makes more sense than posting it in the PS3 section, the PS3 blows.

After god knows how many Call of Duty games been set in WWI/II, we are finally going to see a modern version!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has been announced and a trailer will be aired on ESPN during the NFL draft this Saturday. (04/28/07)

There aren't much details on the game just yet, but its set in a contemporary times WWIII style warzone and it will be totally fictional.

Personally, the title is crap and sounds like a cross between GRAW and BF2MC but I am sure they will somehow pull it off. I would rather see the COD series stay WWII style but they are beating a dead horse with that one now.

Heres a link to the Gamespot article on it, It's basically the same stuff over at G4 where I saw it.

This could be an interesting game... but I still think the whole "WWII action/shooter" genre of game has been driven into the ground. Total overkill.

I agree, like I already said I would love to see COD stay "classical" but WWII lasted only a certain amount of time, they would have to end up making Hitler win the war just to get another game out of it!

By contemporary times I hope it means between Desert Storm and now, I wouldn't step a foot near the game if they made a Vietnam style game!

Hopefully they will live up to their hype and keep it fictional, people always get crazy when present day war games are made that are related even distantly to real wars. (SOCOM CA had to rename the terrorists, right?)

Most of the people it will attract are just going to be people that palyed the old ones. It's got to be really hard to put a modern game out there when Battlefield 2 is here. Battlefield 2 (PC) is an outstanding game, and to stay true to the call of duty style would just make it another shooter. Maybe the console version can beat BF2 for the 360 which is absolutely garbage. But I don't see this being too great of a game. I played the first COD and the expansion for the PC it was basically all i did, and then got CoD 3 for the 360 way later and play it more than any other games I have right now. I love the series but it definitely is beat into the ground. I just hope the modern one isn't the same thing with modern weapons and stuff lol. They really need to put in a lot more than the stuff they have now if they want it to be a success.

This game is now confirmed for the 360 and PS3 so it does belong here for the most part.

I agree Z3CH, to make this work they better pull something out of their anal cavity.

They have a lot of competition out there from games that are/will be 360 classics. Just to name a few they are competing with BF2, GRAW, GRAW2, and maybe even the new Tom Clancy game that is being released next year. All of them are set in modern times and will be difficult to top.

I liked COD3 because it does make a change to play with old weapons in an old environment, but now I have had that change I think it's time to go back to modern warfare. COD3 was is the only game in the series I have played and that was enough WWII for me, I think they are switching to modern times just at the right time because the series would have died if they continued on the narrow path of WWII.

I would like to see the physics upgraded a lot! Not saying they were bad in COD3, but for example when the character opened a gate, you could see his hand pull the latch about 2ft from where it actually was, and they guy's hand actually went through the wall. It's little things like this that can really affect the way people view the game.

I'm not really expecting this new one to be much better than COD3 because from what I saw, progress from each COD game was slow, and the only real advancement I saw was from the original one to the next gen one we have now.

GameTrailers.com - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Playstation 3, Xbox 360) - Media, News, Reviews, Previews

You can watch the trailer here, and an HD trailer.

But FINALLY, Get away from WWII we all know what happened. So boring doing the same stuff over and over and over again but with better graphics.

Call of Duty should just go to a World War 3 setting, they could use their imagination soo much. (Unless WWIII is already the setting for COD4)

Either way, I think the game looks great, awsome trailer. Game is probably in early stages, so, some of the few graphics hicups and stuff in the trailer is reasonable. But, does anyone else think they need to slow down, COD games come out too fast.

Yea, that is basically the reason I posted about the game. They are moving to a "contempory" time base and using a fictional WWIII setting. I wouldnt have even wasted my time creating a thread if it was still WWII.

I think their fictional style will be losely based on the real war we are seeing today but they can call it what they want, it's a game.

I would love if they made a game set during the Korean War or Vietnam. I'm tired of WWII and post Gulf War war games. There are too few games that are set during that time period. I think a war game set during the Korean War would make for an interesting game.

I think Nam would be great, or one if the Cold War went into a full fledged war (U.S and Russia)

I agree... but it had just be alot better than that "Nam '67" game that came out a little while back.

It was a great concept, but the gameplay was horrible! And that's the worst combination that you could have for a game, if you ask me.

I saw a commercial for this while watching the draft yesterday, and I must say, I was quite impressed with the look of the game. It really looked like another suped up socom.

I'm more stoked for this game than I was for AC4 or GRAW 2..

And the release date hasn't even been announced yet XD

I'm skeptical. I watched the trailer in HD Quicktime, and it looked like cinematics from a PS2 game. The worst part is, the trailer appears to be entirely cinematics and no actual gameplay.

I'll save my enthusiasm for when more details come out.

Yeah, sign up was available through the site.

And WTF am I a Nintendo DS? Did ranks change or did I lose a bunch of posts somewhere?
