Official VGF COD4 tourney thread

I'll get the ball rolling, maybe we can get something together here.

p.s. (I or a forum mod will update this top post with all the latest info.)

i can run the finales April 21st,22nd,23rd 2008. If we get enough teams maybe we can run a xx game elimination. so teams need to join up asap.

Mode: I reckon Sabotage will be good for a 4x4 tourney.

Map: Crossfire, vacant or bog.

Reward: Bragging rights in your sig and a coloured name? Unless you guys are thinking we pay actual money to play and the winner takes all. Wouldn't be too hard to do through paypal to a mod who can then move it to the winning team.

Tournaments on VGF will never be for money. It's for fun and maybe I can or one of the graphics staff can come up with some reward sigs and or avatars. I don't want to burden veins with changing titles and such. I'll get a list of rules and such together once we here your guys suggestions.

I'd be game for a 4v4 tournament, but I don't really like COD4 anymore. However, I would be glad to be a ref since I see King mentioned some will be needed.

Personally I think the best game mode would be hardcore s&d. There is no HUD so teams would have to use good communications. Also s&d I think is the best game type, it really makes you pay attention and be on the top of your game.

For maps I would have to pick Ambush, Pipeline, and Crash. All 3 maps offer totally different styles of play. Ambush being more of the close quarters combat where teams would really have to communicate. Pipeline can be both a snipers play ground and close quarters, it's kinda like getting the best of both worlds. Crash just because it kicks total as*.

Question for KING: 360 or PS3, or both?

MLG recently released it's official pro circuit maps and game types if you want to use those. (Link) They're at the bottom.

If I can get a team together as well as getting other teams to agree to play when I get home from work (10:30ish) then I may buy a cheap used copy off the internet or just rent from BlockBuster. Perhaps buy. I'm kinda missing playing it with everyone now.

We can do both, I have both consoles. Everyone just needs to post what system they want to play on. I'll adjust the top image of the players on which consoles. then we can figure from there. So if we get both ps3 and 360 tournaments going maybe there will be a prize for the " Best over-all Kill " something along those lines. I'm open to ideas.

as far as MLG maps go, sure whatever the players want.

I say no to MLG rules and the such. All the MLG did was coming in and take out all the fun in video games. This tournament is for fun only.

It'd be tough to have only a few people running the tourney on two consoles. There should be a main director (KING), and then a director for each console tourney.

I'll play in the PS3 tourney, and possibly help if needed (depending on my school work and such since I'm close to graduation).

My clan might be interested. I'm also a GB admin for CoD4 on the 360, so if you play by GB rules and need a ref, I could help out.
