Different colored names

So recently, I have encountered some players with different colored names. Yesterday, I was playing Head Quarters in Crash with Scuba Steve and there was a kid (a prepubescent little ****ing twat who wouldn't shut the **** up) on our team who had a blue name. Yes, his name, was blue. Today, I was playing Head Quarters on Bloc, and I see someone with a red name. I assumed the red name meant that he was an opponent. I shot at him for like 10 straight mags, and was like "WHY WONT YOU DIE ****ER!!!!" turns out, he was on my team.

1. Is this a glitch?
2. If not, how do I do this?

I just looked it up and it is in fact a hack. you have to edit some files im not sure how. it is odd it said something about a hexeditor or something

What version of the game are you reffering to... PC? I've seen people with a picture of the left thumbstick and right thumbstick in their clan tags on the 360 version. Not sure how they did it, but I'd assume it's not by entirely legit means.

Does it have to be a wireless keyboard or just a USB keyboard? I doubt I'll do it anyway, to be honest. This is just for curiosity's sake.

No, you don't. I was searching for COD4 online videos earlier and one of the videos showed how to do it on the PS3. I'm not going to say how, but it's very similar to the 360 version.

By the way, you should edit your post and take out the explenation of it. You're promoting glitching, wether you mean to or not.

In my opinion, anyone who has a different colored name is a glitcher and needs to be booted from the game all together. Now I realize that it's not a big of deal as other glitches, however it is a glitch non the less.

What people don't realize is, all the people who glitch in other ways to ruin the game need to start somewhere and this is where they start. The glitching needs to start somewhere, and as harmful as this seems to be, this is where it all starts. First the glitching is harmless colored names and such, and the next thing you know everyone is starting to have infinate health. And the last thing we need is a bunch of glithers ruining this game as Socom was ruined. And if I remember, the colors of the names, and other harmless glitches was where it all started in Socom as well.

The bad part about this is, the glitching is allready starting. At least in Socom, it took a while for anyone to have a different colored name. Once the different colored names started appearing, it was all down hill from there. So lets try and stop that same thing from happening with this game.
