Do you have to unlock Match Bonus points?

I just started me second Prestige level and am only getting about 25 match bonus points a game.

No matter what game mode, how well I do, or how well other people on my team did, I cannot get any higher than about 25.

I'm pretty sure that the match bonus is calculated based on your rank. The lower level ranks get less match bonus because they need less points to rank up while the high ranks get more match bonus because they need more points to rank up.

Imagine being a low level rank and getting into a shipment game and receiving a whopping 400 or so match bonus...you would rank up like 3-4 levels.

My first or second game I ranked up like 4 or 5 levels... so its possible. I don't think that rank has to do with it though. I'm level 55 and depending on the game mode mine are often close. Like a big game of domination the bonus is usually low cause you get so many kills anyways. I think you get a low one for domination.

It's a combination of a lot of unseen statistics.

All of the following will increase it:
Having a high kill to death ratio (killing more then you are killed)
having a high average lifespan
Completing challenges during a match (even re-completing them even though it won't indicate anything)
How long you've been in the actual match
Being very accurate with your shots
How well your teammates do at all of these on average

There are probably other factors. Very little of it can be completely confirmed because no official source has said anything, but all of these things are what players have noticed.

It does have to do with your rank though. When you start over again you get low match bonuses and it increases as your rank increases. The actual bonus you get is based on how you and your team played but you do get more points as a higher level.

Rank does have a lot to do with Match Bonus. But tons of other factors need to be considered as well. You can do EXTREMELY well as a level 1, and get about 20 match bonus. Makes sense since you need more xp to rank up as you get higher.

If I do not choose prestige and then later on decide to, will my score that I accumulated while at rank 55 carry over into prestige.. So ill start as like level 20 prestige instead of 1?

I'm not sure what you're asking here but I'll give a few answers to see if that answers your question.

When you go prestige, basically all you keep is your total accumulated score and your kill stats (kills, deaths, headshots, assists, etc.) You lose all of your weapon attachments, weapon camo, weapons, perks, and completed challenges. Those slates are wiped clean for you to do again. The only thing different now is you get a different symbol next to your number rank each prestige you go.
