If you want to beat the mission, your answer ins't killing them. It's NOT killing them.
I was stuck on this mission at the end, just as you are. I had a checkpoint saved after the first assaulters come, tripping the majority of my claymores. The checkpoint was just before another wave, this time with helicopters fast-roping troops in. From where your partner is set on the hill, run out into the open area with the cars and to the left a bit. You will see a very small shack. It resembles a ticket booth of some sort. There are no windows and only one door which faces away from the direction the enemy troops come from. When I ran in there, I only saw one enemy troop. No dogs, just one guy. I had my weapon trained on the door the entire time, expecting to die very quickly, so when he happened to creep by, I let my AK rip.
Keep in mind, you will have COUNTLESS grenades thrown at you. At first, I thought I was a goner. However, none of the grenades can land through the door. Your screen will be shaking constantly and the sound is like nothing I've heard before, but they simply won't hurt you.
As I said, I didn't think this plan would work, I was just tired of getting killed. When the helicopter came to pick us up, I still couldn't believe it had worked for this long. I thought for sure I would get cut up when I stepped out, especially since I have to carry my partner. I'm not sure if it was dumb luck, but I ran as fast as possible, got on the chopper and never looked back on that mission again.
I have a PS3, so I'm not sure if that will make a difference.

I've tried just hiding but it doesn't work for me. The two ticket booths that you can get into shield the first half a dozen grenades but after a while one of them gets just that extra inch closer and kablammo. Personally I think this mission is ****ing ridiculous because those enemies respawn endlessly (RPGs into the helicopters don't help at all) and no matter how well you conceal yourself a grenade will land on you... while you are wearing precisely the same camoflague that you had when the enemy could walk past two feet away absolutely oblivious a day or two before. Naturally they are now alert but that shouldn't make them omnipotent.
The worst bit is that the lovely swimming pool is right there with its diving boards but of course, being a highly trained special forces officer, you couldn't possibly expect to climb the two foot high wall to get in. Bollocks to that.

Which ticket booth are you going to? I didn't notice a second one, so perhaos you're going to the wrong one, as none of the grenades came close to coming inside.

The problem is, that trick only works on easier difficulties. When you come to extract with the other sniper when the chopper arrives (on harder difficulties) all of those guys you refused to kill are still out there and will destroy you in a heartbeat.

I just laid in a random area of grassland close to the Ferris wheel. I plonked the half dead guy in a place where he would be able to cover me if I got raped from behind, and just let rip.
I just "sniped" as many as I could from as far as I could. This just left the other guy to defend me as I defended the area.
When my helicopter landed, I just picked the guy back up and ran directly to the helicopter. I did almost die but I got there in the end.
The part i had most problems with is passing that dog eating the remains of a person. I tried my best to sneak past it but it turned and growled at me everytime. My natural reaction was to kill it before it got nasty, but then its mates came at me and ripped me apart. It took me at least 3 attempts before realising I should just leave it alone.

Hardened is the difficulty I'm on too. Killing them doesn't help... in three minutes I fired over 500 rounds which means I got thirty to forty of them at the very least but when I got to the ramp of the helicopter a bloody grenade bounced off the head of one of the lads who is defending the extraction point and well... I need a new controller.

They will always keep coming. If you keep them back till the chopper arrives it will be an easy trip when carrying MacMillin to the chopper.

If a game like cod or socom or any game has online. I usually play the one player on the easyest settings just to see the game.. Then if theres a server crash then I play harder difficulties.
I liked how socom 2 had it if you beat certain things on one player you unlock characters.
