Scientists burn water
Great discovery, this may lead to an alternative fuel source =]

ERIE, Pa. - An Erie cancer researcher has found a way to burn salt water, a novel invention that is being touted by one chemist as the "most remarkable" water science discovery in a century.
John Kanzius happened upon the discovery accidentally when he tried to desalinate seawater with a radio-frequency generator he developed to treat cancer. He discovered that as long as the salt water was exposed to the radio frequencies, it would burn.
The discovery has scientists excited by the prospect of using salt water, the most abundant resource on earth, as a fuel.
Rustum Roy, a Penn State University chemist, has held demonstrations at his State College lab to confirm his own observations.
The radio frequencies act to weaken the bonds between the elements that make up salt water, releasing the hydrogen, Roy said. Once ignited, the hydrogen will burn as long as it is exposed to the frequencies, he said.
The discovery is "the most remarkable in water science in 100 years," Roy said.
"This is the most abundant element in the world. It is everywhere," Roy said. "Seeing it burn gives me the chills."
Roy will meet this week with officials from the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense to try to obtain research funding.
The scientists want to find out whether the energy output from the burning hydrogen — which reached a heat of more than 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit — would be enough to power a car or other heavy machinery.
"We will get our ideas together and check this out and see where it leads," Roy said. "The potential is huge.

I wonder what burnt water looks like. And seeing as how it has to need radio waves and if we do end up using it as a source of fuel, would it mess up all the stuff that we use radio waves for?

It will never happen though. All this bs with energy efficant cars will never happen because just like cigerattes they will never change the way they do it. Its all about money the govt is making billions with tax on gas. They probably will say its not safe or will need to be tested for 10 years before it can be used.. I bet you.

Isn't it amazing how many cool things are discovered on accident?

Wow, think of the possibility's, forget the cars. You can heat homes with this stuff amazingly cheap. I wonder how much one of those wave generaters cost, and if they could make a bigger one that is safer

This is interesting. However, I find the comments on Youtube to be far more entertaining. It's a bunch of nerds trying to explain why exactly it works off of a 9 minute youtube video.

It took us this long to find out that we could burn salt water... thats pretty sad.

I disagree. I mean, prior to that discovery, don't you think someone would be thought of as a fool if they dedicated time to burning water? If that's true, it only makes sense it ook this long and it was by accident that we discovered this.

How long does it take to burn something? not long.. ok, it needs to be around 3000 degrees faurunheit to burn it. Big deal.. We had the technology to do that for atleast a hundred 100 years.
I blame Albert Einstein for not figuring it out first..
Im sure Cavemen would of thought of us as fools... if we thought we could burn oil as an energy source. Oh how technology changes.
