I'm starting my first year of college this year. Football starts this Saturday which is hard to fathom that it's already here, but classes start either September 3 or 5. Just to let you know if you havn't heard it a million times already your senior year will go by in a flash.

I'm off to college this year, induction week is the first week of september.
My college interview is on my 18th birthday so I willbe there all day instead of out drinking.
After 2 years of college, I am off to the University of Sheffield (Ranked 10 in the UK) for a few years.
I will be thrown in a class with 16 year olds so I it will be fun taking the piss because I am the only one who can go to the pub after college.
I believe my college runs from September to May, about 15 hours per week.

I start my senior year in High School next week on Wednesday. I am really hoping to get all of the classes that I have on my preliminary schedule, or at least most. I'll be especially pissed of the three that I am really looking forward to are changed. I'm actually looking forward to school. Not because I'm a geek, but because I had a really boring summer. The most exciting thing I did was I went up to the Mat-Su (Matanuska-Susitna)Valley for my mom's monthly physical therapist appointment. As for college, more then likely going to go to UAA (University of Alaska, Anchorage), but might not go next year. Either way, I'm glad that High School is almost over.

Oh gawd, I started my Senior year the 7th....
I can already tell it's going to be a terrible year....I mean, Tennessee just made some statewide public school rule that you have to get 20 minutes of exercise per class, per week. (4 classes, so 80 minutes a week) (so, instead of learning, we're walking outside in the hot sun/ridiculously doing any sort of exercise at the will of the teacher, etc.) Then I have Senior Wellness, which is pretty much P.E., outside/inside in the hot gym. All of the outside doors to my school are LOCKED, so if you go outside, you're pretty much locked out unless you go to the front entrance....
Even the lunch food tastes worse than it used too.....
Terrible, terrible year.

God damn boy, why the hell did you come back? One month you say mall instead of shopping centre, the next you say college, which pretty much means alternative to high school to these Americans, instead of university. Why is university called college in the US anyway? European universities date beack to times when the US didn't even exist, no need to have a different and confuddling word.
I saw a 'Back to School' display in a shopping centre on the 25th of June... thats weeks before the previous year ends for english kids. what in the sweet blue **** is going on there?

The time I said "mall" was probably the first week I was back in England. I felt stupid for saying it but Americans are the majority so may aswell conform. I probably tried to sneak that one in but failed miserably.
University in England is the same as University in America as I understand it. Just it's easier to skip college over there and go straight to uni. College is very expensive over there too, I was going to pay $83k for a 2 year course over there, here I am paying £0 for college, then £3k for uni.
If you are asking why you saw a Back to School sign in the US on that date, it's because most schools there go back between early August and mid September. I used to go back first week in August but they changed it to last week August this year.
