VGF Award Idea Thread

I figured that if we have an open topic about what type of awards should be on the VGF awards, we'd all be happy. The idea is, just suggest a cool idea for an award and hope it makes it!

My idea is most original screen name or something in that order.

Both not bad. Everyone suggest an idea for some new awards. Keep it civil we don't need any "most hated" "biggest douchbag" etc.

Don't ask about the last awards thread either, just suggestions on a new one.

I don't think it's fair to compare "Biggest Douche" to "Worst User". That seems pretty civil to me.

No Offense. But, shouldn't the VGF Awards be conducted by Forum Brass. If they're willing to do it, that's fine and dandy. If not, oh well . At least with Otter gone it's not as easy to point out the Brown Lipstick wearers.

It doesn't matter whether you leave out a "biggest douche" award or w/e, because in the end you're voting for either a Giant Douche or a Terd Sandwich.

I agree 100% with Nun's post.

I also think that the votes should actually mean something. For example: Person who gets worst Moderator should no longer be a moderator, etc. (If that is included of course)

I liked the idea of having a worst user award, but it should be re-named to be a little "less offensive" since a lot of people are somehow offended by their reputation online. (I could name some names but it will be pointless)

My only suggestion for an award is most loyal member. I'm not sure how to describe it so make of it what you will.

I kind of like the idea of mod given awards. This was brought up last year but didn't go through. They wouldn't all be given by mods, but maybe like 5 awards like an MVP type of thing. I like BoyEngland's idea about votes meaning something. We could vote a mod out and vote one in, but modship is carefuly considered before actually handing it out to someone. I don't know, it could work, I like the idea, but I don't think it can actually happen.

Having the awards administered by staff is absurd. Any rigidity in structure or, as Boy England suggested, having the results mean anything would remove and entertainment from the affair (even if the entertainment has already been ruthlessly annihilated).

Instead of focusing on the ability / inability of the MOD's, which is pointless and ultimately a popularity contest, why not do something positive on the stuff that we post here about in the first place.

Movies
Music
Hardware
Thread Sections
and keep it positive on influential posters and such, keep out the negatives. There's been too much slamming of members anyway. Acknowledge the people that contribute. yada yada yada yada
