Sniping For Dummies.
Anyone can move a crosshair over a target. Follow a few simple steps, and you'll be a great sniper in no time.
1. If you're going to snipe, take a ghillie suit.
2. Don't get greedy. Take 1 shot from your location and move.
3. If you're chasing a moving target, but missing, take a max of 3 shots. Any more and you'll definitely give away your position to snipers on the opposing team. Remember, you have a team that can take care of them.
4. If you're having problems keeping up with moving targets while zoomed in, you can change your sensitivity in the Options menu.
5. Use cover. Don't always sit on rocks, roofs, etc. You're easy to spot. Hide yourself from every position. For example, a rock behind you and grass in front of you.
6. Leaning from behind objects helps a lot too. Take a shot and let go of the D-Pad. If someone thinks they saw your muzzle flash, it won't matter. You're gone and they'll move on shortly. (Make sure you leave the spot, however. See #2)
7. Always be prepared for CQB (Close Quaters Combat). Someone can easily get behind you. Equip yourself with a good sidearm. Check behind you from time to time.
8. While using the ghillie suit, don't add bipods to your sniper rifles, lasers or silencers to your pistols and if necessary, don't take grenades, mines RPGs, etc. They weigh you down way too much. (Smokes are the exception to grenades.)
9. For moving targets: If you're a SEAL, sniping, you should use the M87ELR. For terrorists, the M82A1. If you're shooting at a moving target, but aren't hitting the person, try to aim lower. Both sniper rifles are .50 caliber and don't require a headshot for a 1 hit kill.
10. The most important rule to Socom sniping: Don't zoom in until you see someone. Zooming in at a certain spot waiting for someone is just plain stupid. You could miss another person move into a sniping position and take you out that you would have otherwise seen if not zoomed in.
Don't believe me? Try it.

Please Refrain from flaming him. This thread is for "dummies" which can be safely assumed as "New" to the game. You sure as hell didnt QS when you first played so leave him be. If you want to talk about QS in this thread help him out with it. Dont just say "QSing is so much better"

I would suggest NOT using a ghillie, unless you aboslutely don't blend in with the ground. (Harv. default on grass doesn't work, but actually the Harvester/Fault/Blackwoods Ghillie looks pimp) Also, if you didn't get a ghillie suit, always get a pistol/sniper with one set of nades and one set of smoke, it works.

I don't think you get it. I'm not new. I have my controller set up where it's impossible to QS.
I've played Socom since 1 came out, and I could prone snipe you in a ghillie more than you could QS me.
That's not flaming either. It's a challenge.

Someone said to not take this to a flame war. Screw it. You're stupid, prone sniping takes no skill. Your tip about leaning around objects then popping back in, thats a definition of a person worse than a prone sniper, a sniper that uses the corner lean glitch. Your style may work a few games, but all in all, if you use those tactics to snipe, you aren't really a sniper. More like a person who camps the whole round while your team is down and loses the game. People like you who think what you're doing is skillful and takes lots n lots of practice, it doesn't. You can get a random guy whose played maybe a week or so, get him a ghuille, give him a sniper, he will get kills no matter what, because it is so easy and pathetic to do. I'm just glad you didn't say use a SASR or a SR-25, because that would be even more pathetic. Outsniping a quicksniper by prone sniping, sure buddy, you're good.
