On the old Socom 3 Website, there was a chat room so people on the forums could talk to their friends. I suggest putting in a new one on this website. Chatboxes could help alot if people don't have mics and want to chat. What do you think?

I always thought it was a good idea... however the big man in charge (Libertine) didn't like it as much and discontinued the association between the IRC chat and the site when he switched us over to the vB forums.

There wasn't much fairness when it came to the treatment of "n00bs" in there at times which doesn't reflect nicely on our wonderful site here. It was all in good fun... but usually at someone else's expense. There were times though that people would come in with a problem or something and were helped by one of the seasoned Socom users though so it had its good and bad.

The older members of the site still show up in the chat semi-regularly but it's not exactly the "Official Socom3.com Chat" that it used to be.

I think with a bit more control it could be reinstated. Unfortunately for you though, I don't make those calls.

We made the chat public with a quick java link at the top of the forum awhile back. The chat was a big hit but for good reason it was taken off.

I say we put the chat back up but with a disclaimer saying that the chat will not take crap.
Basicly boot anyone that wants to come in and be an "jerk".

I thought the chat was fun when it was a public one. It is usually just me and sypher in there now and he's boring.

The chat was removed from the s-2 to s3 switchover before you started visiting, Swiss. It was only added as a link to the site irc much later. The chat has always been there founded by DaKilla.

Well guys, thanks for the feedback. The only reason I really suggested it was because I wanted to get Mr. Pan mad like I used to do when my name on this website was Lt.Valor or something.

Lmao, I don't think saying that would help bring it back. And I don't ever see it coming back "officially" because all it did was cause more problems in my opinion. It got extremely boring about a month after we switched, and I have since stopped visiting.

I believe Otter's post is still up in either Socom 2 or Socom 3 General discussion, and you can download XChat and still be in the same chat, it's just not linked to the site anymore.

The chat room though was a cool place to hang out. Talk to eachother without spamming up the forums and such. It would be really nice to have it back publicly on the site though.

My main problem with it was the type of adult related material and cursing that was going on...The chat was open to everyone.. So anyone could see what was being typed.

I'll need to check out what kind of modifications I can add with vBulletin. If i can find a chat with word sensors enabled, then were good to go. But we'll have to wait till we switch over to the main video game themed site.

Im also thinking of adding a Video Game mod where registered members here can compete for high scores while playing particular games here on the forums..

On a serious note, a swear filter should be instated, but there is always operators in there as well. As long as they do their job, it should be ok.
