Computer shut-down
Lately I've been having this annoying problem with my computer. Whenever I try to play any sort of game on it (the kinds that take up the whole screen) I can only play for about 10 minutes straight, and then the computer shuts down. The green light is still on the computer signaling it's on, but the screen is off and the light [on the bottom of the screen] is orange. There is no way I can get it to start up again. The only way I can get it to go on is to shut the computer down completly, flip the switch off, wait about 15-30 minutes, and flip it back on then turn it on. This is an extremely annoying problem, and prevents me from playing any computer games. I've run a virus scan using Nortan and came up with 1 spyware virus, which I got rid of and the problem still persists. I'm using Windows XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Call your computer's tech support, or post on some uber-computer-geek forums (latter would probably get you better results)

Since it only happens w/ games, it might be that it's overloading your graphics card. That would explain the lack of signal and screen while computer is still on. I would put my money on that your card is broken, but I'm not a big computer wiz so don't take my advice as truth. If nothing seems to work, recover your system and see then.

If your on a laptop then you might be overheating the system or if your on a desktop then like Big red said most likely your video card is either toasted or if it has a fan the fan might have broken which still means your screwed. I am 95 percent sure on this. If your under warranty call tech support.

Might also be a video driver issue. A cousin of mine had a similar problem and after some trouble shooting it was the ATI catalyst crap that was messing it up. We reverted to an older driver for the graphics card but the problem still persisted but much less frequently

What brand is your computer??

I'm using a Windows XP Desktop. The fan is working fine.

Is there any way to check if the graphics card is having problems?

HAHAHAHAHHA, I am sorry, I must laugh at that!!!!

No, what BRAND of computer. Dell? HP? Gateway?

Gimmie 5 mins, and I can have your problem solved.(if someone doesn't tell you first)

EDIT-
Processor is overheating. Whatever game you are playing is too much for your computer.
-A Short Term Solution::

Take off your computer case while playing the game.

-Long Term Solution::

Get a bigger fan, or upgrade your processor.

Meh, I'm horrible at computers, give me a minute or 2 (I'm busy) and I'll get the brand.

Also, the computer case is already off.

Well, since you are "horrible at computers" please define your meaning of "computer case".

But that is only one of many problems that it could be. But it seems to be what it is.

It's an LG.

Case open.

I ran a temp. moniter after playing the game for 3 minutes and exiting and the CPU Temperature does indeed overheat.

I guess I'll have to buy a better power supply... or something..
