What do you think the controls should be like?
Here are control schemes that I would like changed:

First off, make the controls fully customizable. Now I know that most people don’t like too many choices (even though our quality of life has greatly increased with all the options and paths we can take, polls show that 35% of people were happier in the 50’s, where your way to live life was limited), but this is something that most people would agree with is a good idea. Make the user able to add and drop some actions, but make them keep critical ones (like shoot and move for instance).

All of the controls I would like:

Shoot
Action (static, CQC/meele, quick command --in order of priority)
Movement of character-forwards
Movment of character- Backwards
Movement of Character- Strafe left
Movement of Character- Strafe Right
Aim- Up
Aim- Down
Aim-Left
Aim- Right
Reload
Scoreboard/TacMap
Jump
Firerate
Inventory
Quick Switch
Quick Switch two
Pause
TCM
Voice Chat
Text Chat
Change Stance
Lean Left
Lean Right
Roll Left
Roll Right
Roll forwards
Dive Backwards
Dive
Jump Up
Zoom view in (FPV;NVG;THERMAL;Scope)
Zoom View Out
Normal/NVG/Thermal (in scope)
Meele (if used separates meelee from action)
QCQ- (if used separates QCQ from action)
STATIC (if used separates static actions from action button)
Instant action (if used separates Instant action from action button)

There are three different assignments to most buttons. A tap (t), double tap(tt), and a hold (h/1 second).

Here would be a cool control scheme: R1t,tt,h-Shoot; R2h-Inventory; L1t-Quick Swap one; L1tt-quickswap 2; L2h- Voicechat; L2t-TCM; L2tt-text chat/instant action in sp; UPt,tt-Zoom view in; UPh-Roll Forwards; DOWNt,tt-zoom view out; DOWNh- Dive Backwards; TRIANGLEt- Change stance; TRIANGLEh-Dive; TRIANLGEtt-Jump up from prone position; LEFTh-Lean left LEFTtt-Roll left (cartwheel left) RIGHTh-Lean right; RIGHTtt-Roll Right; SELECTh-Scoreboard; R3h-Reload; L3tt-Firerate; same analog movements for precision shooter; SQUAREh- jump; SQUAREt,tt- Meele; Xh- Action button; Xt,tt- QCQ; CIRCLEh- first person view (like a first person shooter first person view); CIRCLEt,tt- Equip/unequip suppressor (if available)

A quick jump up is where you are prone and run forwards crawling and violently pushing against the ground with your arm. If you were to hold the shoot button before doing a jump up, you would push off the ground fast with your left hand and spray all over with your gun in your right (if the character was left handed). If you were to do the same thing before a roll, you would spray bullets while doing a sideways jump like raiden would do in MGS2, but less gay (btw, did anyone see raiden in the MGS4 trailers? **** MAN!). This roll idea was started when people were pissed off when a guy were to shoot them from behind when they were a sniper and they couldn’t get back up in time. If your prone it would just be a roll. You can shoot in any of these actions. A meele attack would be a knife attack (from behind or even in front. Behind=same action as now; in front= grab behind neck and stab gut) if the enemy was not moving to a great degree and not shooting. A rifle butt would be if the enemy was shooting or running around or reloading. A knife attack could not be cancelled by the actions of the enemy, as with a rifle butt. A Knife attack would be an instant death, while a rifle butt would just beat the hell out of them (maybe 3 to kill?). QCQ would be similar to the kind in MGS3 sub. But there would be much less actions. There would be a grab and a throw. A grab would occur when a hostile is in front of the character, with none behind. A throw would occur when no enemies are behind you or if the guy is alone. A grab would send you into first person view, with a knife to the hostages throat and your gun pointed to any hostiles in front you you. You could not release the guy, only press the button again to stab his jugular. You could move around and free aim. This would kick ***. You could shoot his teammates and have them be forced to shoot him in order to cut the death of themselves. Very mentally rough. Also, since you have a body in front of you, damage would be cut down.

Here is a new concept that I haven’t seen in any game to date, but similar to a stamina bar in some. There should be a “RESISTANCE” bar below your health bar. Now onto non lethal weapons. Something like a beanbag shotgun or a QCQ throw would knock down your resistance bar a lot, but do very little to your health. But if your resistance bar goes down, you will take on more damage from subsequent attacks from anything. Leathal weapons would do a decent amount to your resistance bar, falling would do a small amount, and non-leathal weapons would take almost the entire thing down (think like M82a1a to the leg amount). Tranquilizer rounds qould put you out of the game in two hits. The first would slow you down a lot and if you were standing you couldn’t hold the gun steady. If you were prone however, it would slow your heart rate faster and slow your movement of the rifle. It would be a kill though, because the second round would stop your heart.

You need a freakin keyboard or something, try customising an X-Box controller, they have about 43 buttons.

Seriously I do think there needs to be more but it would just be a pain to remember them, especially I dont know about anyone else, but having to tap triangle 6 times before your tac-map comes on isnt my idea of fun. (exageration)

EDIT: I took most of your quote out because it was making scrolling down the page pretty annoying.

Your post is so hard to understand, there are all of these weird letters in one huge paragraph... if you're going to tell us a set-up, write it legibly like:

R2 - Lean
O - Shoot
X - Jump

etc...

Wow, i think I really have a problem. Seriously, I've just noticed that most of my posts are so incoherant at the late night hours most of them I can't even understand in the morning or wind up getting deleted. Oh well, Still post your thoughts on what kinds of control schemes (maybe just presets and which actions to combine {we don't need a jump and action button seperate} or toss).

Control Changes
All I have to say is I had a real problem with the rate of fire constantly being changed by accident. I had to change the controls and now I have to actually hit the square button to change my rate of fire. Hope this helps others with this same issue.

I also had to change my rate of view because every time I tried to shoot someone my gun I would be going crazy shooting the sky and everywhere but the person I was aiming for. I'm better at aiming now but I still have to decrease some more for better control.

Good Luck All...

That was alot of unneccesary typing however you did it so here go's I say just change the rate of fire from not being on the analog stick. Hey wait frogman does that oh well I guess the throw feature would be kool. Also maybe if you ran out of bullets you could kick someone in the face in close combat that would be kool.
