I've had the same thing happen to me. I take care of my mic (you know..not toss it around and ****). After a while of using it, if I adjusted the volume or pressed the mute button, you would hear a static sort of sound..and the volume would dim, so I would have to wiggle the volume control to the right spot so the volume would be normal. Then one day the sound completely went..I was able to talk, not hear. I wasn't even able to hear the beep noise when you hold down the talk button.

I've gotten a new mic since (same one, Logitech) and it's been doing that static sound thing now. :/

But yea, it's marketing I guess..they aren't built to last forever, so when they crap out you go out to buy a new one..thus giving the company more money.

Turn your volume up? I mean if the blue light comes on, and you can still talk, then maybe try the volume, I know sometimes mine goes down on it's own.

I've had the same mic since Killzone came out a long time ago... maybe 18 to 24 months. It still works fine along with my 1 ps2 that I have had forever and I leave on for weeks at a time and never had problems with that either. Sounds like yall need to get two plastic cups and a string tied to each.

The mics arent that crappy... why would you say that... since this is the first time it "broke" on it's own. Its not the mics fault you stepped on it the other times.

I have had my mic since socom 1 and never had a problem with it, and I've logged some major hours since then, not to mention I just throw it on the ground when I'm done instead of putting it up.

I was using my Socom 1 mic for Socom 2 but it didnt last long and unlike you 'lot' I really do look after my things, they are quite tacky and flimsy...Sony make their money not from the consoles but on the games and even more so the accessories so its make good business sense to make them poor quality.
