Night Maps & Aborting

Even with the rank system the way it is people are still worried about there rank so much that they will leave a full room when a night map comes up. its funny as hell when half the room starts complaining that the map is at night. you would think people would take the time to learn the game instead people turn into a bunch of girls when they see a night map so they leave. practice makes perfect with anything you do and a night map every once in a while will only make you that much better. not to mention you DO NOT have to worry about campers since the night vision is much improved from Socom 2. people talk about realism but seals i would think do most of there missions at night. i guess its just frustrating when 75% of the room leaves b/c a night map comes up b/c you would think people would man up and have fun with the game but instead they are thinking about there rank.

Another thing has anyone noticed that when a map starts no matter day or night the people who dont get a kill in the first 2 rounds end up aborting b/c there so worried about rank ? before you get to round 3 half the team is gone and you are severely out numbered leaving you no chance to win. if there was no rank system i truely believe this would never happen.................

Hey I can care less about my rank and ye I do see people like that and it is anoying sometimes.

Agreed. I can think of only two reasons why people do not like to play night maps:

1) They do not like the First-Person view of night vision.

2) They are one of the countless, ghillie suit wearing, bush hugging snipers. Only good snipers know how to snipe at night.

Night vision on S3 is awesome. Characters pretty much glow in the dark, and I personally think it makes for a very fast paced game.

Night maps are the ish... I LOVE THEM!!! the damn ghuille suited snipers are very annoying... I mean I can understand using them and sniping but when 3-5 people on each team uses a sniper rifle from beginning of a map to the end it gets annoying... in clan matches...i can see it and even then still its not like its Team Fortress here... I have no problem with snipers but when u dont even have a chance to see them in the grass be4 u get picked off now u get a level playin field i pick them off like hotcakes with my nightvision!

the only reason i dont like night maps is that when i look at the dull screen i have to squint and it hurts my eyes.. and then i go into nightvision and its like WHOA! so bright.. then u get killed from somewhere u have no idea where they were lol..
and rank is gai.. i could get MVP with 20+ kills and it still goes down..

The only night map i like is blackwoods really

i like night maps alot but one annoying one is devils road i mean i play it but then i suck

The only time i ever quit a room for any reason is lag or cant get a kill like going 0-8 or even sometimes 2-8 in some cases

but yea all in all night maps are fun

i know one reason why people hate night maps, and its because you really cant see beyond 200 yards without night vision, if you are a sniper like me, its anoying to be able to see the guy with night vision, but zooming in with a 12x scope and seeing nothing but black, and muzzle flashing... i hate that aspect of it, but i loved night maps in s2 because it was light enough where you could snipe and actually see people in your scope, but dark enough where you could still use night vision efficiently...so thats probably why people abort cuz they dont like night vision in 1st person, and because you cant see very far without it...IMO anyway....-undead-

Or....think about these reasons (which are mine):
1. i dont like first person, i bought socom for the 3rd person view...with a bit of first person such as scoping and sniping.
2. I wear a ghuillie suit regardless if im running and gunning or sitting in a bush, i've grown accustomed of my set load outs ant thats how its going to be.
3. aborting. Look, jsut becauyse you think you have a reason for eveyrone aborting doens't mean you have any clue what your talking about.
It doens't have to do with rank, for myself, i get frustrated when i got 0-2 so instead of sitting there and getting more pissed i ABORT like soemone would do if they were in a situation they didn't like, they'd leave.
It probably has somehting to do with rank fro some sure, but for a lot its jsut the frustration factor, and this is entertainment, so if your not getting entertained....leave, go away, chang the map, change the gametype.

About night maps though......how could you even say what you did, your putting anyone who leaves a room, or doens't like night maps, into one single catagory and calling them wussies. Ill play a night map, if im having a hard time at that day, i ABORT, good lord what a useless thread.

1- Ok i understand you dont like first person view and you claim you bought this game b/c of that reason but first person view is part of socom as well as third person. some people actually play better while in first person but personally i would rather play in 3rd person unless its a night map. the point is you cant play night maps if you dont get used to first person so should i just learn how to use it or should i leave the room every time one comes up ?

2- You use a guille suit for one reason and thats b/c you need any advantage you can to get a kill. your not good enough yet to be a consistent sniper without hiding in a bush and thats a fact. not to mention people with bad connections turn virtually invisible when using a guille suit which is probally another reason why you use it all the time.

3- Having fun to me is finding a room that i like and playing in it for as long as its full. if i was to abort every time i started a game 0-2 i wouldnt have any fun since i would be spending most of my night finding a new room. the truth is you abort b/c you dont want to save a bad game to your stats since its ranked. chances of you leaving an UNranked game while 0-2 are slim to none and thats b/c it doesnt count towards your stats.

Im glad i struck a nerve with you on this since your probally one of those camping, f-90, guille suit cowards who waits around for everyone else to do all the hard work. you sit around while the rest of your team is trying to win the round and then when your the last one vs 4 you take out 2 or 3 of them before you die so that way you have a good kill to death ratio. if we end up winning you stay and if were losing you end up aborting b/c your frustrated so now you tell me what part of that involves teamwork.
