Metal Storm: The New Era of Modern Warfare

Have you guys seen this beast of a weapon? It can fire 1,000,000 rounds a minute, cyclic. The name of the gun I dont know, but the company/manufacturer is called Metal Storm. Check out their website, or this video http://www.metalstorm.com/index.php?...Live%20Firings , it is amazingly devastative. This weapon uses a system called "Stacked Projectile" Weapon technology. Dude, check out the site, u will see they also have assault rifles and handguns based on this "stacked projectile". Plus, they have the idea of using all that "waste of ammo" to combat missiles with a wall of lead.

what part of the site did you see the assault rifles and handguns?? i saw this site like last year or so but at that point it was just a couple of videos showing the gun emplacement. i'm not impressed byt that part but i really would like to see thier idea of an assault rifle or handgun.

future weapons-new show on discovery channel, showed the pistol and big thing... pistol fires 3 shots before it even recoils... i got a few set up around my house

Looks like using that amount of ammo could be quite useful in certain situations when fired like that. Even though this weapon would probably not be used in real combat, it sure as hell opens the door for better technology and more advanced weapons.

If you know where a missile is, wouldn't something along the lines of flak work better?

Nah man, high calibre flak weapons (around 88mm) don't have a high enough fire rate to hit very high speed missiles... basically they use 20mm and lower so as the amount of bullets fired is so great that they have to hit something...

This sort of weapon (the kind this thread is based on) is only mountable on ships or maybe gunship aircraft (AC 130) but will never really appear in assault weapons as it would be extremely comp[licated... the AN-94 isn't anything near as complex as these weapons but maintainence of the abakan is beyond the majority of the russian army

And with these weapons the already miniscule hit percentage of non-elite ground forces would fall even more!

Well, I was operating under the assumption that we knew where the missile was... Shouldn't be too difficult if you know where it's going and where it currently is.

Of course, I guess that knowledge isn't exactly openly available...
