Socom 3 NEEDS ranked respawns

Socom 3 NEEDS ranked respawns
At the risk of being flamed for my thoughts on ranked repsawns, I have written sort of a rant that I have felt was necessary to post since the patch that eliminated ranked respawn games. Please feel free to comment, respectfully of course and please read the entire post before commenting.

I'm going to flat out admit it, I have lost an edge for Socom since Zipper has taken away the ranked respawn rooms. As I continued to play Socom, I actually began to enjoy respawn games and even moreso than regular games. What was once my favorite game that I could not go more than 1 day playing, has been put on the backburner for other games. I prefered to play respawn games because there is more action and for the simple fact that I don't have to wait around til the next round to fight again.

With the huge popularity of the ranked respawn rooms, I am shocked that Zipper has not taken this as a sign that maybe respawn games need some sort of ranked system. What fun is it playing for nothing? Why even play at all? I go into an unranked respawn room and its filled with guys who have absolutely no idea how to play and have probably just purchased this game. And that is assuming the rooms can even fill up because nobody wants to play in an unranked room.

It seems to me that respawn games for Zipper were just a random option thrown into the game with no real effort to build upon it and make it better for us who prefer respawn games. A perfect example of that would be the horrible spawn points on small maps. It is almost impossible to avoid spawn camping, and the Terrorist usually have the advantage to spawn camp on most levels which makes it worse. It actually discourages players from wanting to play on a certain side depending on the map.

I know there will be many people who will claim that respawn games are cheating and that they do not show any real skill. At times they can become rank up games, this is true, however as someone who has over 500 games played in ranked respawn rooms (why lie?), its no secret that ranked respawn rooms destroy your rank rather than level up. To me, this was not important as my stats were still being recorded and I knew I was playing for something. And for the most part, I still had to earn my score.

Now my solution to having ranked respawn games is to have a separate ladder for normal games and respawn games. That way there isn't an urge for everyone to play respawn games in hopes of ranking up. Randomize the spawn points for all players, that way most spawn camping will be eliminated and players will actually have to use their skills to win. I have no problem with having 2 ranking systems if it means both styles of play are catered to, rather than eliminating all excitement for one end.

I've felt the need to post this since the last patch, I ask that Zipper re-think working ranked respawns into its game while also improving upon spawn locations.

I ask that you guys do not turn this into a flame war as I would like all comments to be mature.

I am not even sure if Zipper reads this but as a fan of respawn games, I ask that you please bring some excitement into the other aspect of your online play.

Give us a ranking system for respawn games!

that would be like a rank up room, you know how many people would have high ranks if there were a respawn ranked room...WOW..it would be a problems I promise that..

dude Ranked Respawn was a glitch and always will be and all people do in that shet is spwan camp!

I don't see how, they could obviously change the ranking requirements for respawn games so you aren't a 4 star after 100 games. Not to mention, there would be a separate ladder for respawn games so it would be easy to see who plays what type of game.

To be honest, the biggest things that I want, are my wins and losses tracked and my stats...in all honesty the rank displayed next to my name means nothing. It just seems to me that there is no point in playing in an unranked game. If it is so damaging to have a ranking system for respawn games then why have it at all? Its almost like respawn games are practice rooms for new guys and glitchers.

Other games successfully have a ranking system featuring respawn games so I don't see why it can't be implemented into Socom.

please do not troll in this post, you obviously did not read it so why reply? And bman, that is not true either. Not ALL respawn games end in spawn camping and if Zipper made the effort to improve upon spawn locations, this can be eliminated.

I'm attempting to have a CIVIL discussion so all of you KIDS please do not ruin this thread.

There is only 1 bit of information in that post I agree with. that being the fact that respawn rooms allow you to get back into the action right away. Now when i get killed early in a round i hate waiting for the next round. But this game was designed as a team based-objective based game. Zipper tried to make this game as realistic as possible.(that's what we asked for)

Respawn games are for the newcomers, the little kids and for those that just want to get a good warmup. Ranked respawn games would only bring out more people ranking up with there massive kill counts.

A respawn is simply a way for those to practice and hone their skills so when the time comes to play a ranked game they can contribute with some kills. BF2 is a great game if you like respawns that keep track of your stats and rank. Maybe you should give that game a try.

The original post certainly was well thought out and I certainly have to give you credit for that. But as far as ranked respawn rooms, the game is much better off without them.

how is BF2? I've never played it before but I'll have to admit I definitely have taken a liking to respawn games. I own all 3 Socom games and find myself bored after a short time with regular games but the respawn rooms provide constant action which keeps me entertained for hours. You do make a good point though about this game being team based, I have played so many suppression games that I had almost forgotten about the other map types.

I don't necessarily agree with them being for newcomers, or atleast they shouldn't be IMO...it is a great deal of fun especially when you mix up the weapon types.

But I still say there has to be a way for them to implement a ranking system for respawn games. If you have to separate ladders you make the requirements different for each type of play. So in essence you would have a normal game rank and a respawn rank. This would eliminate players trying to play a ranked respawn room in hopes of ranking up quickly. I believe it is possible to do sucessfully but I guess I truly am one of the few that feel this way.

i think that would be great. i like this idea, and it would be way better if there was a seperate ladder too, they could make ranks harder to get and things like that. i like the idea =]
