Are ghillie suits really that good?

The glitchy see-through thing is where you're actual body disappears after a certain distance leaving just the netting. I don't personally think it has to do with a program error, or even lag, but that Zipper actually put it in to make the wearer actually blend in, like the suit is designed ot do. Although, they should make it so your body reappeares when you stand up, or crouch. Just my thoughts, though.

I am a sniper, and i will just say that i do use both tactics, i quick snipe when i want to, and when i just want to lay low i "hide in a bush" and snipe. I don't "really" hide in a bush, i'll move from spot to spot on the field trying to get the best angle/shot on my enemy while at the same time trying my best to conceal myself. I am probably 50/50 when it comes to quick sniping. Ghillie suits in my opinion are a great tool for all of those snipers who like to use stealth tactics. If your a quick sniper, a Ghillie won't help you one bit. So it all depends on your playing style. For all of you out there that think Quick Sniping takes no skill, you are either very stupid, or just hate the fact that someone killed you and they might be a little better then you at sniping. For all of those people that think quick sniping takes no skill, i invite you to just try it sometime, you'll see. But at the same time, i can see why quick sniping can ruin the game for some people. Some people like to use actual military tactics and like the gaem to be as realistic as possible. Quick Sniping is just something that takes the realism out of the game...at least for the tactical people. But at the same time the quick snipers see the game as what it is, a game, and us the most efficient tactics they can in order to get a kill. I guess i have mixed feelings about this whole topic. I do like to use tactics and stealth in order to achieve victory. But at the same time i also like to quick snipe sometimes, because if mastered, it is almost unstopable. But for all of those quick snipers out there, including me, don't feel all high and mighty just because you think you have skill at a video game. Just because your a quick sniper doesn't mean you are great at the game, believe me, i know plenty of non-quick snipers out there that would own all of you...including me.

Many differeny types of people play this game, with many different types of playing styles. Some run and gun, some like to use stealth, some like quick sniping, while other like the tactical aspect, what ever there style is your going to have to deal with it. I just think we should respect the playing styles of others and just have fun. Who cares if you got quick sniped and you hate quick snipers, who cares if you got killed my "a bush", just respect the fact that you were killed by someone with a different style. I mean seriously, all of this whining about quick sniping and camping is making you all sound like a bunch of f'ing women. Just play the darn game and enjoy yourself, STOP WHINING!!!!

I agree with RAMZAK, I'm pretty sure Zipper was trying to make this game seem realistic as possible without taking away the fun. I think gillie suits are a great asset and one of the most realistic parts of the game, Real snipers have to have a ton of patience to get their kill and not give away their position. If you cannot find a sniper and that sniper kills you, then I say good for that sniper, he played fair and used the tools in the game as his/her stategy for winning.

Scope/High Scope, 2 nades, M18/226, and still be under the normal weight of a sniper with a High Scope/M87-M82/and a ghille therefore making you better all-around in up-close combat/sniping and luring people out with nades if they are camping (in the mill/barn/house)

So post your opinions about being better all-around of just plain camping like a noob

You are absolutely wrong. So your saying anyone who uses ghillies suck? I do not think so. They really come in handy for tactical play, and stealth play.

As I said to someone last night, when did Socom turn into Snipecom? Zipper should make a game just for sniping, then all of you fcks can see how gay it is.

Sniping is just total noobishness to the 10th power. You look through a scope from umpteen meters away and shoot some guy. And then in the lobby you act like a god when you went 10-1 on Harvester as a Terrorist, but on Citadel you can't muster more than 2 kills?

Seriously, go play deerhunter if you want to look through a scope. That's my take on it. And you know, I know there's a tactical advantage to having 1 or 2 snipers, but I am so fcking tired of the ENTIRE TEAM SNIPING. It's just ghey and I'll vote you off if you end up on my side next map.

I belive the reason for all this sniping contraversy is simple
1. There is much more open fields and ranges then their was in S2, Alot of cats say Socom3 is boring because of the landscape ( open and vast )
2. Sniping is much easier on Socom 3 ( discounting the added weight factor )
We all know people in general like to do things the easy way. hell I have.

When people are camping out on Havester with snipes ( which does not anger me ) I like to use what I affectionatly call " disturbing the flounders "
I throw smoke and get in the humvee and laught at all the bodies I see get up and scatter. I love it when I run down 4-5 people on havrvester in one round. AS far as Quicksniping , I dont do it because I dont think this tactic was intended from the game makers. I've been playing Socom 3 long enough to know where all the flounders lay down. I mix things up on S3 so much as far as sniping, camping, run & gun, cat & mouse, whatever ... I have fun which is what this game is intended for. Oh, and I use ghillie suits too.

Camping takes no skill. There again, I'm completely right on this one. You think knocking up 15+ kills in a bush establishes you as a good Socom player, wrong. Quick-sniping is a skill that is hard, but does not take long to quickly learn the technique. Try it sometime camping shitheads.

Ghuille's ruin the game. (I'm surprised no one spelled it right the whole thread) They just make it even easier to do something that takes no skill. Ghuille's are retarded. Now everyone say it with me.

I'm totaly with you guys(M!KE and Deathhabit). Thanks you, atleast someone else sees it my way. I felt like i was all alone here with the hatred of campers. Everybody in this thread loves their hard earned ghille and just cant wait to find another bush to snipe in. I've never seen so many killer bushes in my all my socom years! Its getting to the point where i dont even keep my crosshairs up at head level anymore, i'm just steady running them over any bush i see and hopefully their name pops up.
