Opinions on Premarital Sex?
I'm a big-time Catholic, I went to Catholic school up until High School. I just want some opinions on premarital sex.
What got me going is when I got a checkup today. The doctor asked if I do drugs, drink alchohol, and then asked if I had sex. It was weird because after giving him an answer he said "Well sex is okay, but the other two can be bad." I was like "SAY WHAATT?" But not really. It is weird, how it is a sin in my religion to have sex before marriage, yet it is "okay" in today's standards. ESPECIALLY that he said drugs and ALCHOHOL are worst than sex. How? He also mentioned "Sex is okay, you just have to be careful" and mentioned that everything I tell him is confidential and doesn't go to parents or anyone... Blah blah. So, what are your opinions on this. How even like 30 years ago it was socially acceptable in society (not teens, of course) to have sex, but now this doctor is telling kids it is okay.
Another good story was in my health class, I don't remember it exactly, but my health teacher was teaching about sex, and what is better, condoms or birth-control and whatnot. I guess the fact that so many teens do it now, and more and more teens get pregnant, that it is rendered "okay in society"
Also: Please no flaming, and please don't get my topic locked. I worked hard on this one. ;)

Fire away is my opinion... I don't mean one night stands all round, but teens can't exactly just marry people but they are still as, if not more, sexually driven than adults...
My logic... God is the basis of religion, and religion made this rule... god "designed" humans (this is religions opinion) and he made teenagers sexually mature by the time they are 15... so do you think he had it in is head to stop them from having sex for 5 years?

Exactly. This is why fake names were invented.
But seriously, sex is fine as long as you take the right precautions.

It comes down to your own morals.
In my opinion, sex would be a much better experience if you waited until you married.
Everyone has their own beliefs as far as whether or not to wait.
If you want to go by the christian way. Sex is a gift from God. Sex is also one of the ultimate ways to show your love for somebody. Pre-martial sex can have a "cheapening" effect on sex, in my opinion.
My Wife and I wish we both waited until we met each other.
Also, waiting is an absolute way to ensure that you don't have to deal with fatherhood, STDs, and all the other problems that can arise.
My advice is to enjoy youth, and don't rush things too much. Some people might make fun of the virgins in this world, but alot of the time, they have quiet respect for them deep inside.
Follow your faith, it won't steer you wrong.

I say it's acceptable but one should be careful because very few people want children before their mid-20s(and STDs of course)

How did you have sex without meeting eachother?
I don't really care when you have sex as long as it's not in public.

See, I think of it like him. I am a Catholic. Yeah, I don't obey it nor do I obey many other rules or commandments, but I still realize that God didn't intend for it to happen. Jimdalf did have a good reason, but I have something to counter that. In the old days fathers would pick their daughter's husband as early as 13 and 14... So They were still married when they had sex. God might not have intended for us to get marries around the 20-age mark anyway, but that is a law now. 18+

This whole topic is baised on your Morals. If you feel that having sex is not going to affect you in anyway, that's your choice. If you wish to wait, that is your choice as well. You have also have to look at who your partner is, if it's someone you can trust to not "give you anything", then thats just fine. However, it is not a good idea to let everone know that you have had sex, as you could get a bad name. A guy could be considered a "player", and a lady could be considered "easy".
Once again, it depends on what your morals are.
