SOCOM 3 is way better than SOCOM 2...in my opinion. I love the CONVOY maps and the vehicles and boats...the only thing is the ranking system and the updating of stats...I'm missing like 12 MVP's...but oh well...I'm addicted to S3 as I was to S2....BTW if you see the [PMS] clan watch out for them...an all female clan, and they're pretty damn good.

OK, I've figured it out, although I never played S1 or S2, from what I hear, it's just the ppl that glitch and camp that ruin S3. And the fact that all maps are boring, we're getting map packs. So S3 is fun, just b!tches are ruining it.

i think socom 3 would be better if they included the socom 2 maps in the game, but socom 3 is alot better just because of the graphics (even though sometimes the framrate drops online) and the weapon customization

I will agree when you say it isnt AS addictive, but still pretty addictive(for me anyway). I still definitly think its a better game though, i tried playing socom 2 a week or 2 back, and i found it just awful compared to socom 3.
But thats just one mans opinion.

This theory applies for EVERYTHING. If youve seen Jurrassic Park, youll know what im talking about. 1 was the best. 2 was good. 3 sucked. Grand Theft Auto is like the only exception were it got better as it went on.
When you try to take the saame idea or concept, and repeat it over and over again, it just doesnt work.

I too agree with this statement. And to go along with that so did my friend in my clan who had never played the first two socoms. He went to S2 and absolutely hated it.
Socom 3 requires a little patients because the maps are so big and the rounds are longer. I'll agree that that bothered me at first. But after a couple of months of playing, this no longer bothered me at all. It became normal and the game just kept getting more fun. Acquired tastes are the best tastes.
Of course if you just plain don't like big maps then I understand your hate for this game. The small maps on socom 3 are nothing like the small maps on socom 2. They are too open with limited options of places to go. Respawns are another weak point on socom 3. How did Zipper not realize that one respawn point on a small map was going to be extremely friendly to spawn campers?

Socom 3 pros: Better graphics, more realism, vehicles, swimming, bigger maps possible, better hit detection due to less lag, less glitchers (huge).
Socom 2 pros: Better small maps, quicker games, more accurate ranking and stat keeping.

I agree with Soccergod on the pros and cons. I find Socom 3 just as addictive as S2, just in a different way. It IS a different game. I happen to like the difference. On big maps, gone is the advantage of rushing, gone are the easy grenade kills in the first 5 seconds, and gone is the predictability of where your enemy is and how he/she will react. Its wide open and most maps do an excellent job of catering to the new dynamics.
I will say that I think the map type switching (convoy, demo, supp, etc) did not work as well as planned. I say this cause of the extract and escort maps. They are worthless in S3. I miss the ones from S2.
On occasion I feel like a smaller map, which S3 does not do well at all. The current small maps weren't designed. They just said "maybe if we cut out this part of the map it would do for a small map." That I think is the biggest reason people are so ready for the map packs. We will then have some small maps that were actually DESIGNED to be small and work great.
As for the community aspect, the online interface is above what I would have expected. It is a VAST improvement from S2. I would improve it in only 1 way. Expand the alert icons in the lower right to include if you receive a mail message or your clan has been challenged. The only failure of the mail and ladder system is the lack of these instant reminders. If they can do it for whisper and friend/clan invites, they can do it for the other.
I also find the dead room chatting to be the same. Nothing missed here.
