I have one main gripe above all else in this game. I can tolerate campers, snipers, glitchers, lag, and pointless trash talking. Mainly cause you can just always find a new room to play, but thats the problem!
Why the hell is my rank restricted in games that are in lobbies accessable by all? ALL should mean ALL, not an ensign makes the game and ranks above or below this are not able to join.
There are no options to select what ranks are able to join your game, SO WHY THE HECK ARE THERE RESTRICTIONS??? This is why they have lobbies catered to specific ranks. You would think Zipper would have fixed this in a damn patch, but of course not. This is why I am aborting and shutting off my ps2 just so i can lower my rank and play most of the games in any given room.

agree and not
agree that the maps were alot more fun in S2 but I think I know the real reason that people are getting bothered with the game. GAME TYPE. Lets be honest in S3 sure the boards were great but it was also the missions on each board. We hardly ever play the suppression in S2 yet that is all that we play on S3. It felt good when you planted the bomb, got the VIP'S or killed all the hostages. Think about all the times that you asked "is that us that's moving them", "bomb planted", "VIP has been eliminated". Those made playing the game fun. Now all you see is Seals outnumber the terrorists. That means nothing. Now all we have campers and snipers. And the damned suppression maps. It is hell for me to find anything else. That is the real reason that we just don't feel the same for S3.

Wait no can't be those cause in Socom 3 you can have small maps and a limit so its 8v8.
It must be the ACTUAL MAPS! The maps in Socom 2(X-Roads, Night Stalker, SUJO, Guidance, Blizzard, Fishhook, ect.) were just addicting and great. They really were a major part that made you so addicted, you'd feel hungry for hours but couldn't leave your couch for one minute to get that bite to eat. Another Perk that Socom 2 had was better gameplay...Now I really don't know what made the gameplay better but some element of this gameplay is missing from Socom 3. I mean we dealt with horrible hit detection and other major problems on Socom 2 because even with these problems the GAME WAS ADDICTING AND FUN! With Socom 3...ehhhhhh Not SO MUCH. Im hear to basically say.....Zipper *censored* up with Socom 3. I've had it since launch and ever since that "New Game Smell" wore off of it.....I've come to realize its *censored*.
With Socom 2, I HAD to play the game nightly like I was a OCD patient and it was a ritual of mine.
With Socom 3, I felt like "This is Socom, why am I not having the usual urge to play?" So I would force myself to play a few games on it.
Maybe having a WORKING Rank System like Socom 2 also "helped" with its level of addictiveness.
Anyway to wrap this post up, I don't have either right now cause I sold my Socom 2 after I got 3, and I sold my 3 once it started to suck. I really need something to fill this "void" in my life. Im hoping that Ghost Recon: Advanced War Fighter for my Xbox 360 will fill the void. But once again I think I need to be serious with myself....SOCOM > ANY OTHER SHOOTER MADE.
I have my fingers crossed that Socom 4(if made), will go back to what made Socom 2 the best Shooter I ever played. Im PRAYING IT WILL!
Until then, Im trying to get my hands on a copy of Socom 2, and a network adapter for my PS2.
Thanks for reading and goodnight.
EDIT: One thing I forgot to write about was........the waiting in Socom 3 is definitely one thing that does ruin it. Let's say you have 2 bad rounds....you're dead within a few mins, Well guess what you're now gonna wait 5 mins and then another 5 mins just waiting to play again. The fact that each round almost always goes the full time is a joke and was never a factor in socom 2(Maybe in ShadowFalls with some campers).

Everyone who says that, sucks, it's not like s2 where the best nade rusher wins, you need patience.

I'll tell you what happened. In Socom II everyone knew the maps and the whole general population was good at the game. It did not require teamwork beyond "guy in the dogleg." Everyone did their own thing and there were "Stars." Now, like the real thing, Socom 3 requires players to play like a team. Many of you are forgetting that S3 is a new game. You are expecting it to be S2 with weapon attatchments. I'm not here to judge anyone or how they play but it's time to step up to the new challenge. If you don't like the game, fine, but don't complain about it because it's not the exact copy of the previous version. The way I see it, S3 is just as addicting, especially if you have a group of friends or a really good clan. If you don't like the game you can help out by making it lag less! That first day S3 came out it was awesome and it continues to be.

Ya i agree i remember with socom 2 i would be up to 3 in the morning playing it but with socom 3 the rounds take longer larger maps= less action and theres no more one map rooms like i would always play in fish hook. Also, there are alot more maps that i dislike, waterworks small map, tidal fury small map as a terrorest with the grenades etc

Exactly what I've been saying all along. When Zipper created s2 they were just expading the game from s1. Not much changed throughout those two games except for new weapons and maps. As time goes on things have to evolve and change into something almost completely different to keep the fans happy with the franchise.
I myself would be uberly p'od if zipper just made another expansion of s2. Now that would be just lazy :? . Every new feature in s3 (IMO) trully is KickA$$.
So go back to s2 if u want to. Where you can chuck grenades blindly into the XRoads courtyard and get kills. If you call that skill then you truly are a NOOB!
S2=no skill watsover. S3=skillfull players only. Almost like chess.

Well you are in the minority then. There were always 20-30 thousand people on Socom 2, and there are usually around 10,000 people on Socom 3. Considering when Socom 3 came out they broke records for the most people online, that must say something about the lasting fun for people.
I agree that Socom 2 was basically the same thing as Socom 1, but they fixed a lot of the things that were wrong with Socom 1. In Socom 3, they didn't fix anything that was wrong with Socom 2, they tried to fix the stuff that was right about it.
I always played the medley in Socom 2 because I liked to play all the maps. Now the only rooms with people in them are suppression and demolition, which aren't fun on Socom 3. I liked it better when specific maps were designated with specific goals also. They try to make every map so that you can change the type of game, and I don't think that was a good idea. The maps were better when they were specifically designed for demolition, breach, or escort.
Of course, everyone that likes the game assumes that people that don't like the game aren't good at it. You always have more fun when you get kills, but even games that I get a lot of kills just don't seem that fun to me.
I played Socom 2 the other day and found that most of the people on there have Socom 3, and they just got bored with it and started playing Socom 2.

I think when S3 came out, I would have agreed with you. But I am just as hooked as I ever was on S2. It's far from perfect. FAR. But still fun. There are some maps I liked better from S2 (FishHook, Foxhunt, Bitter Jungle) and some i like better on S3 (Harvester, Tidal Fury, Devils Road).
I just hope when they release #4, whenever that is, they incorporate aspects that has made it so successful up to this point, and react a little more quickly to resolve errors and glitches.
