Why Socom 3 is Unaddictive, Not Fun, and Just not the same!!

^^Some "leader" on KF small last night. I told him to play with his vagina while I play the game. Of course, 7 guys on SEALs camped their spawn. Know what I did? I threw some nades, got 2, then rushed in and killed the last 5. <font color="#FF0000">*censored*</font> YOU CAMPERS.

Zipper took everything fun out of this game by making it realistic. S1 and S2 wern't too too realistic, but S3 is. And it's no fun because of that. Even TK respawns are boring. You can't do anything anymore. There's no "conquer the computer room" or "conquer the boxroom" or "conquer the bikehouse" or trying to shotgun with snipers. Like..you still can, but crosshairs are so big you mine aswell not even try.

Maps...Zipper didn't make one FUN map IMO. All the maps blow nuts. And in small, there's not ONE even map, maybe waterworks small, but the rest are all so camp/one side noob friendly it's unbelievable. In my own experience, I've had more campers on smalls than big.

In S2 you couldn't camp too much, people didn't have too much patience, if you camped 2 rounds in a row by yourself, and ended up wasting 2 mins every round sitting there, people would vote you off. Since there's no motive to camp in S2, people didn't so much. S3 has motive to camp. That damned have more people alive on suppression bullcrap.

In S2 (and S1, keep forgetting it) if you camped once or twice, people would figure it out and you're dead, no more camping, game over. It was easy to kill and identify campers in S2 and much more fun killing them. Since it was over with faster and of course S2s gameplay > S3s.

Another gripe...camping...again, one time I tried it just to see how I'd do. I layed in the middle of that one area with 5 big silos in crucible with a guille suit and an SD. Just proned right in the middle. Not too many people noticed, I got about 7 or 8 kills total in 2-3 rounds with alternate "in the middle of nowhere" spots. This game is no fun because it's so easy to be a woman.

What they need to do:

Option A) Bring DNAS to S1 and streaming technology. Talk in lobby's, clan tags, better mics, and keyboard chat system in game (but not dead-alive chat). BUT KEEP S1 THE EXACT SAME OTHERWISE.

Option B)
  • Bring streaming technology to S2, MAYBE add a new map or two like citadel and/or boneyard.
    Keyboard chat, but not dead-alive and vice-verca
    S3s neat features like so n so has come online, and ability to join via clan and friendlist

Other than that, keep S2 the exact same. I love the gameplay, I love tk respawns, I love S2 so much more. Now imagine being able to play Fish Hook with as much lag as foxhunt with only 8 people in the room, via streaming technology. Omg S2 would rock something major.
You took the words right out of my fingers. Although, I think it would be cool to add Harvester and a couple of other maps. Hell, add all the S3 maps, but with a little redesigning. Make the gameplay more like Socom II, but as I stated, with the maps of SOCOM III.

Overall, I think Zipper has added alot of good ideas to SOCOM III. However, I think they could have added the features with a little more thought and made the game greatly better.

Well I know why Socom 2 was a lot more fun and addictive and here's the reasons....


1.) Socom 2 had smoother gameplay.
What I mean by this is that everything responded well, you tap triangle and you go prone or whatever really fast, you can trun fast, jump around and the gun shot particular where you wanted it. Controls just repsponded better. In Socom 3 it doesn't.
2.) Getting kills is relatively easy in Socom 3. Anyone can snipe decently because it's so still and people move so slow. Socom 2 had a bigger challenge in getting more kills.
3.) The maps in Socom 3 are so plain.
It feels the maps have no characteristics to them, just another map with random objects and different terrain in them. I mean in Killing fields, 3/4 of the map is just sand. Not to mention they're too big. In Socom 2 it was great because the map sizes were perfect(some a lil too small) but in Socom 3 they are huge. And you can get the huge maps or really small maps.
4.) Game modes aren't as fun.
In Socom 3 the game modes are well thought out and are good but isn't the same as Socom 2. The reason? Socom 2 had each map a specific game mode which was great. They should have done the same for Socom 3. But the only difference is make it so you can change the mode when you create a room, just have the game mode default on that specific map.
5.) Interacting with people is not the same.
You barely talk to each other due to the mics messing up, being so many people and not knowing whats going on since the map is so huge. You often just play on your own and talk to other people.


They shouldn't have changed so much about Socom, a mix between Socom 2 and Socom 3 would have been perfect.

IT'S A PSYCH THING!!
Just compare the colors used on the screen in Socom 2 and Socom 3. The lively blue and greys used in Socom 2 kept people up and moving, where the DARK GREENS AND DEEP BLACKS ARE USED TO MAKE PEOPLE SLEEPY WHILE IN THE LOBBY;thus, people are not as happy in the lobby and fall into a deep sleep.

Actually, yeah the colours do suck... but i would not go as far as being tired just by looking at them.

It's funny how everyone on this forum, except for me, said this game was going to kick butt. You said it'd be AWSOME having huge maps, 32 on 32, yay! funny how everyone is complaining now.

EDIT:: I will admit tho, i said the vechicles would suck, but they atleast give life to this game. And my stats are crap on this, atleast on socom 2 i was a god, and people knew me ;)

Eh... I don't recall the Socom 2 interface colors being lively at all. They were just a different hue of bland.

Wow, dude, I see it exactally the opposite!! Our clan has a had a couple S2 reunions, & I really think the gameplay is LAME compared to S3. S2 seems very flat, and the weapons seemed phoney...BTW, it is fun to jump back in time and play a Crossroads or DG...

If you dont like this game compared to the other ones why play it? And along with that why be involved in a message board and clan dedicated to the game?

I think one reason people are having the thought about it being less addictive is because, Socom 3 requires team work and people to work together to achieve a common goal. Where as in Socom 2 one guy could kill a whole team sometimes and most people didnt care about working as a team.

I personally believe that Socom 3 is more fun, but I have no doubt Socom 2 is more addictive. I used to plays hours a day of Socom 2 all the time. I ENJOY Socom 3 more, but I don't feel the need to play it I like I did on 2.
I think it is just because Socom 2 was so much easier to "sit down and play".
You could come home from work/school or anything, and play some good Socom 2. Socom 3 on the other hand, you need to be on your toes and be really into it to do well. And since most of us have more busy lives, Socom 2 will be more appealing to play at quick notice.
Something I must confess S2 did a better job on was maps. I like most of the maps on S3, most of them (StormFront blows!), but they're just too linear and none are as unique as S2 maps. Other than that, Socom 3 > Socom 2. If you don't like it, don't play it, no need to complain.

Im happy to see the opinions of others........nice to know that Im not the only one with these feelings.

I heard that Socom 2 still has on about 5,000 people nightly and I've heard that number is growing every night. Definitly am gonna setup my Socom 2 again. After almost 5 months of not touching socom 2, just thinking about the game brings that feeling of addiction back. Whoever said that you could be pissed at the game for 10 secs then turn it back on because you had too was right. I remember playing in some laggy *** games, turning it off digusted.....then within 5 mins my PS2 was booting right back up and I was ready to get back on and practice with my Clan.

Also I saw a few people mention that people don't talk on Socom 3 as much as Socom 2....I forgot about this and aint it the truth. On socom 2 you could die and not be bored because you always could strike up a conversation with the other dead guys lol. In Socom 3, I would die and try to start talking it seemed like Id never get a response or if I did the conversation died out pretty slowly.


Question for ALL: Would it be possible for Zipper to update Socom 2, to be less glitchy, less laggy, and have some major improvements? They could sell the disc for 20 Dollars and I can promise that it would sell like CRACK.

PS: The 360 isn't that bad.....Its my first time getting a "Microsoft" gaming system. Im impressed when it comes to the online innovations that Xbox360 has. Not too impressed with the crappy array of launch titles thou.
