I love socom3, but there are things it is missing, they're things that socom 2 had that socom 3 is missing for sure:
1.The chats with people when you are dead, not tactics ands tuff but mindless chatter about hockey, the weather, anything that came to mind.
2. Better wars, the wars in socom 2 seemed to be more intense, also you could get a 2v2 in 5 mins usually, ( i love 2v2's)
3.the guns seem bland with not ALOT of change between each one except maybe firerate, but it seems that each one is sort of the same....mind you i love the guns in socom 3, the attachments but they dont have the socom feel to me.
But to be fair to my "i love socom3" statement:
1. Socom 3 brings in so many new ideas, with combos for maps, games, anything really is possible that you thought would be cool in socom 2, like demo respawn.
2. The large amounts of people do soemtimes make it a pretty intense game when the rooms get going.
3. Its a much smoother game in terms of gameplay, socom in a technical sense should be about sneaking around, hiding in bushes, and teamwork.Socom 3 brings all that out, even if you sniper/camper haters dont want to agree but in the tech sense thats what a socom game should be about, sneaking.
thres more but my hands now, so ill leave you with that.
P.S 360 sucks, its horrible, it looks terrible, i think i might save up the 800 bucks for ps3 (ign said it may be that much....save up ladies)

I have no intent to get a 360, there are just to many exclusive games on the playstation and also the mutiplatform that i have no reason to get a 360.
In terms for the PS3 being $800.00, i really doubt that one. In order for sony to be competitive, they are going to have to keep their system around the same price as 360. No matter how much better the system is, price wars will be huge.
Look at what happened when the Xbox came out a year after the ps2. It was 300 when it came out, but when holiday season hit, the ps2 dropped its price to $200 bucks. So, for xbox to have a chance to sell any systems, they did the same. A 100 dollar price drop after two months of being on the shelves. Sony sure made MS their b!tch when they did this.

S3 is too noob friendly. Anyone can do anything and get 20 kills. This includes:
Gunning with anything, there's no more crappy gun anymore, they all fire fast and spray like anything, so it's instant headshots
Sniping has got to be the ****ing easiest thing ever to be done on the 3 series of socoms. S1 and S2 sniping took skill, serious skill if you were a quick-scoper. S3 the crosshairs are twice as large in and out of scope, so sniping is twice as easy. And with the new character movement (which I like, don't get me wrong [jumping and being able to move your crosshairs in mid-air]) it makes quick scoping so easy it's not even fun.
And finally...
Camping. Good ****ing Lord. This game is ruined because of all you women who feel they're too good to actually play the game and try and firefight. Every single ****ing map has campers. Every single one.
"Alright guys so let's go out, chuck some nades, then we'll get one, then everyone head back to spawn and hide"
^^Some "leader" on KF small last night. I told him to play with his vagina while I play the game. Of course, 7 guys on SEALs camped their spawn. Know what I did? I threw some nades, got 2, then rushed in and killed the last 5. **** YOU CAMPERS.
Zipper took everything fun out of this game by making it realistic. S1 and S2 wern't too too realistic, but S3 is. And it's no fun because of that. Even TK respawns are boring. You can't do anything anymore. There's no "conquer the computer room" or "conquer the boxroom" or "conquer the bikehouse" or trying to shotgun with snipers. Like..you still can, but crosshairs are so big you mine aswell not even try.
Maps...Zipper didn't make one FUN map IMO. All the maps blow nuts. And in small, there's not ONE even map, maybe waterworks small, but the rest are all so camp/one side noob friendly it's unbelievable. In my own experience, I've had more campers on smalls than big.
In S2 you couldn't camp too much, people didn't have too much patience, if you camped 2 rounds in a row by yourself, and ended up wasting 2 mins every round sitting there, people would vote you off. Since there's no motive to camp in S2, people didn't so much. S3 has motive to camp. That damned have more people alive on suppression bullcrap.
In S2 (and S1, keep forgetting it) if you camped once or twice, people would figure it out and you're dead, no more camping, game over. It was easy to kill and identify campers in S2 and much more fun killing them. Since it was over with faster and of course S2s gameplay > S3s.
Another gripe...camping...again, one time I tried it just to see how I'd do. I layed in the middle of that one area with 5 big silos in crucible with a guille suit and an SD. Just proned right in the middle. Not too many people noticed, I got about 7 or 8 kills total in 2-3 rounds with alternate "in the middle of nowhere" spots. This game is no fun because it's so easy to be a woman.
What they need to do:
Option A) Bring DNAS to S1 and streaming technology. Talk in lobby's, clan tags, better mics, and keyboard chat system in game (but not dead-alive chat). BUT KEEP S1 THE EXACT SAME OTHERWISE.
Option B) - Bring streaming technology to S2, MAYBE add a new map or two like citadel and/or boneyard.
Keyboard chat, but not dead-alive and vice-verca
S3s neat features like so n so has come online, and ability to join via clan and friendlist
Other than that, keep S2 the exact same. I love the gameplay, I love tk respawns, I love S2 so much more. Now imagine being able to play Fish Hook with as much lag as foxhunt with only 8 people in the room, via streaming technology. Omg S2 would rock something major.

"Working rank system"??? Are you serious? Neither game has a working rank system with the "evolution" of cheating (aka ranking up) that shows up after it is mass released to the public and has the time for people to crack the code.

Im hoping that Ghost Recon: Advanced War Fighter for my Xbox 360 will fill the void. But once again I think I need to be serious with myself....SOCOM > ANY OTHER SHOOTER MADE.

Hope you don't wind up wasting $60 on a 360 game that you already feel is inferior to a SOCOM game.

Keep your fingers crossed that there will even be a SOCOM 4 (ya just never know sometimes)... until then, I will be enjoying SOCOM 3.

What... did you only sell your network adapter for trade-in credit on your 360 at your local EB Games/Gamestop?!?!??

The fact that each round almost always goes the full time is a joke and was never a factor in socom 2(Maybe in ShadowFalls with some campers).

I dunno what to say other than perhaps you shouldn't get killed so quickly during battle??? Please don't think I am trying to be rude or insensitive, but I mean really... I can't think of any other way to say it.
SOCOM 3 is more fun because you have ground vehicles to mess/travel around in. They also give you the option of having large and small maps to have games in... then there is the not-so-new SOCOM option of tuning the amount of time in a round. (Basically, S3 has even more room options than SOCOM 2 had.)
The included option of having unlockable goodies earned through the single player mode for multiplayer was another good addition that SOCOM 3 has over SOCOM 2. Then add in the fact of having even more online unlockables via linking up your copy of S3 to the PSP version of SOCOM (aka FireTeam Bravo).
Also... hit dectection in SOCOM 3 > that which was found in SOCOM 2.
I dunno about you... but in my (humble) opinion, it is heads and shoulders better than SOCOM 2.

actually, for the bold part, they are making a socom 4 for the ps3. just look at one of the recent threads in this forum.
and i do agree how socom 3 just isnt a 'socom'. i think the biggest factor that makes socom 3 'suck' in a way, has to be the MAPS ! whats socom without a desert glory or a frost fire, or a vigilance? cmon zipper. why not just add the maps. whats the purpose of taking them away. and theres only 2-3 maps i only play on s3 because all of the rest are just boring.....needless to say, they could have done a WAY better job. im not impressed.

This is what pissed me off about Socom3. I remember back in Socom 1 if you got more than 8 or 9 kills using a Sniper Rifle you were deemed super with a Sniper rifle. It would be fine with me if the cross-hairs would be constantly moving. I mean it should only stop if you have a bi-pod and your prone, even then it should sway slightly cause of your breathing. When I first sniped on Socom 3 and my cross-hairs stopped, I thought I was glitching so I switched to a automatic. This is gay and should be stopped with a new patch. Its completely retarded. And about quick-scoping. It is SOOOOO EASY! If you zoom in and in again fast it slows your scope down for about half a second. So all you gotta do is put your crosshairs on a person. Zoom in twice super fast and bam. Easy kill. I don't care who you are, no one can hold a 20 lb rifle completely still. This is why camping is so easy! You can snipe an area so ABSOLUTELY NO ONE can go that one way. Like on Waterworks. I sniped the WHOLE right side and let my entire team go left. So basically I killed anyone who went right. And the rest of my team could nade them completely off on the left and we won 6-0 in a matter of 8 mins total. (Small Terrorist) The one thing I do miss from Socom 1 is the ability to run and gun with Sniper Rifles without scopes. But thats about it.

YEAH SOCOM 3 SUCKS!! but, you know what really sucks? On those cold lonely nights...who's there for you? Your Girlfriend? Hell, we know your no looker. Your Family? The only thing we ask of them is dinner on the table. Your Friends? hey yeah, have a couple brewkies with the fellas, but what happens when you come home?
I'll tell you who's there for you. Socom. No matter what youre doing, you can always find a way to turn on that ps2, and pop in that socom disc. So cry and whine all you want (hell, i know i do), but the sad thing is, we'll always keep coming back.

Personally, I think SOCOM 3 is an awesome game. I love the fact that some of the weapons are made a little more realistic. It wouldn't hurt to make sniping a little harder. Other then that, I have no complaints. The graphics are good, the maps I play are fun (to me at least), and the campers don't bother me, because they are usually not that hard to find.
To each their own, I guess. :)

I think part of the reason we are being so picky about S3 is that we have all been PLAYING THE SAME GAME FOR 4-5 YEARS!!!
Personally, I like S3. I love that when your team is down, you CANNOT camp and drag out the game. It forces the team that's down to go for the win.
I tend to camp a bit anyway, so the game play is good for me. Where Zipper really dropped the ball was the maps. They should have incorporated the old maps into the new ones, so when you played small maps, they were the old ones. Wouldn't it have been cool if Desert Glory was updated and made part of Harvester or Maybe Killing Fields? They could have used the same map, but changed the appearance.

IMO Socom 1 was so revolutionary and new, (3rd person shooter, Military themed, realism, and the mic) That is why everyone would forgo food and personal hygene to play for days on end. The newer versions ( while in my opinion drastically better than the ones before it) just does not have that new feeling to it. Unfortunatly we in hindsight can be extremly critical of the direction that this series has taken. I bet if this were the first socom of the series, people would be raving about how good it is. Any way just my opinion.

Probably one of the smartest statements I have heard in this whole discussion.
The unfortunate reality is that the majority of the fanbase have played Socom for years, and are rightfully much more critical of the product. The core of the game is still there, a 3rd person military themed shooter, but the problems related to the significant changes in this game are hard to ignore. I'm all for change, and progression and evolution, but I'd much rather see things done correctly or not at all.
I like all of Socom 3's new features and maps. I hate the shoddy, bug and glitch ridden product I paid $50 for on 10/15/05.
If you were handed a slip of paper that listed all of this game's features and problems, with no title given for the game, would you want to buy it baised on what you'd read?
