Possible stolen account

OK...a friend of mine with a verfied account tried to login today but couldn't. It said he was already logged in and to logout or login under a different ID. He is in my clan and when I checked his stats online his profile said he belonged to the clan called The Soldiers which is not our clan. I had him login under my account and his username is still under my friends list and it showed him online but not in a room.

So, I sent this guy an e-mail in game and have yet to receive a response from him.

My question is...has anyone had this problem? Is this an issue with his account being hacked or is it a account creation screw up? Did someone sign up with the same user name and have everything revert to his account from my friends?

The thing that's concerning is that he has a verfied account with credit card information connected to it...if someone can hack his account in SOCOM what's stopping them from hacking his CC info?

Any input would be helpful...he is trying to call Sony right now, so I don't know what is up with that yet.

well if it was hacked theres no way that the hacker will get the CC info. theres no way that the info is related to the acc once it has proven the validity of the acc so the hacker cannot veiw his data unless he were to hack into zipper

True...his CC info is probably safe.

Have you heard anything about accounts being hacked though?

CC info's safe. Did you ask your clan mate if it was an easy password? If so it's more than likely hacked.

Yeah I did not ask that. If it was then that is a possibility. My password is relatively easy too....maybe I should change mine.

Why would someone hack an account though.?? It's not like it's a high ranking account...people just can't leave **** alone can they.

i don't think someone stole the account, but rather another bug with the servers. this also happened to me, but in the middel of a game. i was crawling behind a retaining wall in a snipe bound, and all of a sudden i just died. i was not shot or anything. at that moment, it said my name was "popeye" or some **** with another clan name. other ppl on my team saw my real name bouncing back from seals to ter when you hit the select button. strange. so i just finished the game as "popeye", logged out, waited like 20 minutes, logged back in and all was well. this had also happened to friend of mine.

LOL, was this name Popye? Was the clan TWO? If it was then it was one of my clan members. Thats really funny, what a coincidense. That was probably a bug thing or something dont think my friend did that.

Also, relating to the post your account will be safe I beleive. Just hope that its a bug or something and that everything will get back to normal.

i don't know if the game counted when i played as him, but from what i remeber i did do pretty good at about 10-2 no mvp tho. i didn't think he was hacking-just a glitch/bug.

even if someone did hack into someone's account- i don't think it says anywhere the cc info, they could just mees your stats up.

Yup, I'm sure the CC info is safe.

He also has created a new account and is calling SCEA on Mon to see what can be done. He doesn't really care about his stats...we just enjoy playing the game.

Whomever is using his account was logged on all day yesterday, but only played like 3 games. I don't know what is going on with it. I've sent him a few e-mails in game, but have yet to get a response.

I just want to know if it is a server bug or if he deliberately stole the account. If he did steal it...what's the freakin point? The only reason I could see you would do something like that is if you REALLY REALLY wanted a user name, but his name is not that unique or l33t (speeder).

Who the hell knows....he's got a new account and will call on Monday.
