I've always been an avid Playstation and Sony enthusiast. However, I have been losing faith in Playstation as of late. Key games that have kept me around have been the Ratchet & Clank series, and the Socom series. Both of which look like they are coming around to the final (or are at the final) expectation. Because of this fact I will NOT be purchasing a Playstation 3. I may purchase one later on, but it is truly not worth it for me to purchase it at the time in which it comes out.

Xbox 360 shows great possibilities. They undoubtably have the largest bank and are most eager to use that bank it would seem. Sony seems kind of cheap at times. They cut lots of corners and leave consumers in the dark a lot. Xbox is always moving foward. XBL, although not perfect, is a pretty cheap and they have full time staff unlike PS2 online games. I enjoy the Halo series more than the Socom series as far as offline goes, and I am sure Halo 3 will surpass Socom 3 online. Other titles such as Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Hitman, and Call of Duty are much better played on this console than any other. I will be buying an Xbox 360 this spring without a doubt. There is the issue of malfunctions with the system, however. I have heard many stories, a few from close friends, about the system physically melting under its own heat. Xbox will fix this, no worries. This is another reason I am waiting on the system.

When Sega died out, after a great run mind you, they formed ties with other gaming companies. It was the best idea they ever made. They discovered their power lies in game production, NOT SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT! Dreamcast was a great system, but they dropped it too quickly in my opinion. They moved on with their game development, but dreamcast could have stayed around longer making a bank for future projects. Instead they left the project and Revolutions I am affraid is on the same path to destruction. They need to get their heads on straight.

I never purchased Gamecube but I have played on the system on various occasions. Nintendo 64 rivals the Gamecube in the gaming world and it's a decade older. Gamecube failed, but nintendo is still awesome. I want Nintendo to give up on making another system. Revolutions might be good, but it won't be enough to match PS3 and Xbox360 in the gaming world for the next half a decade. It will crash and burn, and at that time I hope they realize gaming consoles should be left to Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo puts out many titles I love, especially the Sonic series. They should work on development and game production as their top priority. They should then sell these games to Xbox and Playstation. That is the only way I see Nintendo surviving in the future of gaming. I want them around, aswell. If Nintendo keeps this up they will go bankrupt and xbox or playstation will jump on them, buy them out, and absorb them into their company.

Summary:

Playstation 3 - Show me good titles and I will think about it purchasing this system.

Xbox 360 - Fix small issues such as malfunctions, and overproduce it making it more available unlike how it is now.

Nintendo Revolution - No chance. Sorry Nintendo, but just stick with game development to survive like Sega.

I'm all about the PS3. I've been a PS fan since the first one came out.
