Socom 3: My Thoughts, and suggestions.
Going back to the first time I ever played socom online (socom 1) I logged on and joined a game playing the map "Blizzard" This was my most memorable and favorite gaming expeirence for the PS2. I was chatting to people on the mic, i was so surprised it worked perfectly and everyone was nice. It was a blast. Then glitchers began to sprout, going behind walls and underground shooting people. This absolutely ruined socom1. Months later socom 2 is released and is fun for about a month. Cheaters once again come in doing the EXACT same thing in socom1.
Now, looking back the only major thing that made me lose interest in socom was the fact that people would glitch. And the MAJORITY of these glitchers were going in walls and such. You would think by the time socom 3 is released they would have realised that this is a major factor. But they didnt, they didnt do ****. people are still going through walls and shooting out. ALL THEY HAD TO DO is make it so once your player is outside of the map, he is a.) booted from the game, sent perhaps a warning, b.) brought back onto the map, or c.) falls to death and is killed. Sadly zipper didnt chage this.
Now, thats just the begining of it. We've got stat problems and verification problems, Lets start with the whole CC Verify thing. For one, the rating on the game says 17+ you cant get a CC until your 18. They know that young people play their game, this is not to get them not playing. For 2 they expect everyone to have a valid CC, i being only 17 years old, do not have one. I use a debit card and it works fine. But that means nothing, i know people that are 30+ that do not have a credit card because they choose not to. Anyone who has had one could understand the hassle. So Zipper automaticly assumes that people will have a valid credit card...
Then we have this excuse.
Well, we need your credit card to get rid of cheaters.
This is my favorite because, they say they can just simply ban cheaters. The problem is i bet you they paid some swift guy in a suit to think this up. think about this really. Me, being an average 17 year old male can tell you that this is a dumb idea. An Alternate idea, which took me less than 30 seconds to think of would be A CD KEY. C'mon we have all played computer games and typed them out. You know what im talkin about here :) Now, only if they did this. Why not? My ideas suggest,
they WILL make you pay for something i do not know what.
or
they hired a complete MORON who thought this was a good idea and convinced the rest of the team to agree.
Seriously, how had would it have been to make a cd key instead. And plus if you happen to get banned its going to cost you 60$ to get another key. Not 10$ at your local bank or super store (gift card)
Socom made a HUGE mistake here that i hope they will regret.
Another thing i noticed.
What are with these release dates, they just dont seem to get it. SURE you will get more purchase if you have your game released shortly before christmas. But think about the MASSIVE rush they have to deal with every damn time. They seem to always have the same problems because there are just so many people complaining and so many numbers to deal with. If they released this game in say March they wouldnt have to deal withh all the "x-mas noobs" brining a huge growth to their servers in which they arent ready for. They would have 9 months to prepare, i just dont get it. They had the same problem with socom2 and they did it again with socom3. i just think that is stupid.
Besides all of the glitches and problems, do I truly enjoy this game?
I don't know yet. As of now... No i dont not like it. Compared to the massive rush i got when first playing it online in socom1 this is nothing, sorry. Once I get my account verified and I get some freinds to play with and some STATS to check up on, i can answer this.
The reason i chose socom3 over bf2 was because of the stats and clan organization. BF2 doesnt have that, and right now BF2 is looking like a better game than s3 to me, but i would have to try it first...
But til then, ill sit paitently waiting for the stats to fix, and for the problems to go away, and to buy my visa gift card...
Im sorry i wrote so much. But I at least got my word across without creating a wall of text. I hope you read it, and i can understand if you didnt.
Thanks alot guys.

THA
first off i agree with most of ur points, but wen u said that people did not have credit cards, they would still ahve a debit card(unless you kept ur money in ur house ) because wen u have a bank account you automatically recieve a debit card and they work for socom3. Also dont u think that if they could catch the cheaters they would? the problem is, it that there is no way to tell if a player is going outside of the map, or the game would be a lot more. But what annoys me the most s the people that complain about a GAME THAT YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY ONLINE. But neways, cheating i part of the game and yes the people that do it are losers, but we have to get used to it

dude they did fix most things with glitching. Theyy have the ban/report thing, and the new "Proxy Death". A proxy death is a death someone gets when they get to a certain glitch point and they basicly die, if someone does get a proxy death, that spot gets locked with more proxy death making it easier for the game to kill the glitcher in that spot

oh yeah i know almost every family pretty much has to have a bank account with credit or debit, like i said, i have a debit card. what i didnt say is that i tried it, along with my freinds and they didnt work... im canadian and most of the debit cards have like 23 digit numbers.
And as for the part about out side of the map... Ive programmed before and there are ways to make it detect if a player is outside of the map, the only problem with this is it takes alot of time and it would take up a large space on the disc, even easier would have been too make it so they just fall instead of sticking to the outside, which i dont understand why they do in the first place, most games u either fall, get stuck and cant see in, or you get re-located. But Zipper doesnt seem to have trouble patching these bugs because it has been done before, the question im raising is why they use the same coding, instead of making a new coding that would stop this and save them alot of time and complaints.

thats why they take so damn long to fix things, and we should be thankful that they even do.

This is the only post complaining about Socom 3, that I actually didn't laugh at. From the topic I thought I was going to read a bunch of gibberish about some kid hating being killed by 203ers. This post actually has meaning, it holds valid points, and is constructive to the community. Great post, agree with you for the most part..except for BF2 lookin better.

To tell you the truth, i dont think that the CC veri. was made to ban cheaters. If that were true, I think most of the top 100 would be banned (few exceptions). But the reason i think they made it up is because they wanted to
at least stop most kids from playin an M rated game. Yeh sure you'll hear a handful of kids in a ranked room who had their parents verify their account, but at least most of those kids that do has their parent consent to play the game. After all, i've seen kids that are in rated R movies because their parents allowed them to watch it.

EXACTLY AND I AGREE WITH YOU ON EVERY POINT!
I think they should hire people to work for them that are actually interested in playing the finished game, for example a person like you. Then they would care what it was like and it could turn out half-way decent.
And cd-keys ****... everyone uses cd-keys not just computer games.
Adobe, Microsoft, every big name software brand uses some form of cd-key... you think that Zipper could/should have cought on to something that big if they were going to decide they needed names to be registered.
Some of this **** is ridiculous which is why i dont play socom3.
