Playing Dark Maps
When playing dark maps, which do you prefer to do?

-Play in first person with the night vision goggles on

-Play normal in 3rd person and just try your hardest to notice anything human-shaped

-Sit back with a thermal scope

-Throw flashbangs for illumination

-Other

---

I for one just sacrifice my peripheral vision for Night Vision goggles... unlike in socom 2, they ACTUALLY WORK in this game! They see for 100 meters with perfect clarity, and HIGHLIGHT any bodies. No, I don't know why they get highlighted, but it certainly helps! I do find it hard to maneuver and fire up close, but that's why I usually grab something with a lot of spray, like a silenced Uzi.

thermal
Due to the large trend of camping with an sd assault rifle in a gilli suit,I would have to say thermal all the way!

This reminds me of another question I have about S3. How are the Night vision googles. Do they suck A$$ like they did on Socom 1&2 or are they helpful?

yeah, in socom 2 they were bogus, they just turned up the brightness and tinted it green... brightness on maps that were textured for night, not day. In Socom 3, all maps are textured for day, then the lights are dimmed.... and fog added etc.

Some maps have decent enough moonlight, but others are just insanely dark.

Night vision sees farther than thermal, and CAN highlight them better at longer ranges, but that doesn't help if you're not in a scope.

Well, for me, I am a sniper, so as I am going along, I will use the NV. Then, when I finally spot a bright green spot from far away, I will switch to thermal and shoot them.

I use em all for different situations actually.

Gun Fights
- Distance = Night Vision/3rd person Alternating
- Close-up = Night Vision
- Sniping = High Scope + Night Vision

Runnin Around
- Outside = Night Vision
- Inside (Boneyard) = 3rd Person

It all really depends on situation for me.. They're useful, but i prefer to use everything for an advantage against an opponent.
