Fair map prices?
Ok, so if you read the FAQs they said "purchasable content" about downloads. So obviously they will be charging to download maps if/when they make some.
My question is what do you think would be a fair price?
I myself say 50¢ - 75¢ would be fair.
Now, some of you are going to say that charging 50¢ for a map would be useless, but let me explain. SOCOM3 has broken 48,000 people online at a time. Say that 40,000 of them buy the map for 50¢, that is $20,000 profit for Zipper.
I just hope Zipper does not try to rip us off hardcore with map downloads.
On a sidenote, I think patchs should be free. Lets hope they don't charge us for them to fix their errors.

I ask a question and get some moronic flame, grow up children.
As for the Strat Guide, I am not talking map overviews, I am talking about new multiplayer maps.

LongJev.. I think you missed the point there.. although the topic had me thrown at first too..
Nefarious was referring to the cost of downloading new maps to play online once zipper makes them available.
Now, to answer Nefarious's question. I think the way Halo worked their downloadable maps system was pretty good. Have "map packs" available. 2-4 new maps for $9.95 - $14.95. Possibly have a price decrease after 30 days. After 60-90 days have the maps be free.
Keep in mind though, I think Halo 2 was out for 6-8 months before any new maps were made available, so don't get your hopes up too early.

Thats not really $20,000 profit, not even close actually. Zipper has programmers, skinners, builders, network guys, managers, vips, etc. Each one of those people pulls in a salary. If the programmer and skinner make 40k a year each and lets say it takes them around 2 weeks to build one map. Thats like $2300 off the top in salary after taxes. Then the map needs to be tested, those guys get paid, then it has to be reviewed and approved...paid....uploaded....paid...maintained.. ..paid...etc etc.
50c is like shooting themselves in the foot. Gaming companies are in it to make money, especially since theres so much competition. If you can't afford the map at a higher price, you'll either find a way to get the money or you won't buy it. It's better for them as a corporation to have a few people whine about the price and not buy it then to lower the price so everyone does.

why would they even make downloadable content when the HDD is no longer availible for purchase.... i would assume that the maps are to big to be placed on a memory card....

First off...to download the maps one will need a hardrive, i don't think 40,000 people already have or will buy a hardrive, that takes us down to about 20,000 which will make zipper charge more for maps, I'd say about $20-$25 for all maps. Now thats profit right there.

exactally im not about to go buy a $100 HDD for one game i can get the game for less than that much they should find a way to add it in or you can go out and for cheaper buy a disc that allows you to go online but only for the new maps
