I don't know how many of you listen to chants. Those are the things you hear monks do in churches(that's the very simplified version).

But I for one think that chants are absolutley amazing. A new group came out a few years ago that brought back the art of Gregorian chanting...with a twist. They do the classic stuff but they also do new songs as well. Stuff ranging from Stairway to Heaven, to Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Their rendetion of Paul Simon's-Sound of Silence is just...wow. I've never loved a song more in my life.

I have heard of what you speak of. I downloaded a couple of albums as a joke... and I got just that. I'm a very open minded individual towards good music, and I think that the songs they've done are horrible. They pretty much wreck the song to the point you can't even recognize it anymore... Covers should at least resemble the original... but the albums I heard are just long drawn out lyrics sang in the same tone and music regardless of the song.

A good example of a successful cover group is the String Quartet who have done tribute albums for many great artists such as Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, System of a Down, Pink Floyd, U2, Led Zepplin, Nine Inch Nails and Phish.

Yeah I don't like all the songs they do. Imagine wasn't very good. Neither was SLTS. Their originals are quite good though.
