The graphics are definitely different. The only thing I don't like too much is that if you don't look up at the map, you might end up killing some of your own teammates. Their names disappear pretty quick. Everything is going to take awhile to get used to.

I first got Socom 3, jumped into a game, and I was happy that the people actually dropped. Every can kill someone, and each has their own strength and weekness. Vehicles are great, getting places fast, and you aren't invincible when you are in a vehicle, as many games with vehicles tend to be. There are a couple small maps for those who like to not worry about running in circles around the whole map (Blackwoods), big maps that vehicles are a huge advantage in, but still some footwork is needed (Killing Fields), and some maps that tie these two aspects of the game together greatly (Crucible). I like how the suits actually blend into the background of the game. A desert suit actually looks like a desert suit, and a forest suit blends you in with the many bushes scattered about. The encumbrence is also excellent in the game; carrying a sniper or a launcher really casts a toll on you when trying to reach a place far away. Teamwork is used now since people are starting to get a feel about what each map is about. I like the Control types in games because teams have to organize little groups that are capible of going and capturing a control point. If people don't cooperate, then there will be many people heading towards the same destination.

Now what are my "cons" of the game.
I really am dissapointed about the name of your teammates not appearing on your screen when they are far away. I am the kind of person that when they see someone with no name, I scope them and shoot. Sometimes, when you scope at someone far away a name pops up if they are on your team, sometimes the name doesn't, even if the person is on your team. Even when people turn corners and you're right there, the name doesnt pop up unless you aim at them, and your first instinct is to shoot when you see someone with no name. But once you shoot, the name pops up, and before you can do anything else, you . With time people will learn how to overcome this, but I like the Socom 2 version of doing this better. You see the peoples names if they are in your view or just over the horizon, and if they are on the other side of the map, the name is invisible until you get closer.

There are more changes from Socom 2 to Socom 3 than there was from Socom 1 to Socom 2. It takes more than a game or two to get used to it; I've been playing for about a day now, and I am just starting to get used to everything. Overall, I think this is a huge improovement in the Socom series, and I think that Zipper might lose some customers, but in the long haul pick up many more customers. I personally think that they made Socom 3 the best it could be, and very consumer friendly, with the new message boards, polls, and feedback features. Overall, I give Socom a 8.5 out of 10. I would give it around a 9.5, but the lack of the names for your teams at a certain distance really turns me off.

On the second day of SOCOM I've gotten used to the "newness" if you will and persoanlly don't know of anything now I don't like. I actually like the names not popping up so you have to keep track on the radar and plus in the crosshairs the dot changes color if it's an enemy... Keeps you on your toes. Again COMMUNICATION is key in this game... Every game I've played where there has been lack of it we have been run over and ever game where the has been communication we've swept them... Amazing what a little teamwork will do.

Verifacation
S3 is the sweetest thing out there vehicles are a bit low on graphics but everything else is out standing!!! good job guys. Some maps are built for small amounts of people though cuz less people the map size down sizes. aight, the verifacation is good since it stops cheaters but if you dont got a VISA card or whatever can you use your bank card? and also, with all this sweet graphics you think they could of scrapped the VISA crap and just put a code inside your game box?!?!?!?!

hmm..where to start. First of all, I think most of the maps that I've played so far(haven't played a few) are really good. They're also really cool on small map(8v The guns are really even, none overpowering the others. The attachments are sweet, for now I'm using a silenced 552 , some pistol w/ no attachments, and an M67(on TERR, so my guy isnt so heavy) For SEALS, I use M4A1sd, and the rest is same as TERR. I'll probly experiment with more when I play more. The controls are decent, I find no problem with them. Vehicles, definitly cool. Whether you're driving it, using a turret, or just plain riding in it, it's nice to be transported throughout the level without having to walk all that way. The explosions are sweet, and I like the environment ''shaking'' when something explodes, like a grenade or wall. I was also very pleased to see that you can use a PS2 USB keyboard online, you can talk in games with it. (Just press enter, and type what you want and hit enter to send, duh! )

Now for CONS, or just little gripes I have. I guess when they say pressure sensitive, they really mean it eh? Heh, you have to really press down on the buttons for them to work. Alot of the time there's NO sound when firing your weapon, so I'm sitting there wondering if I'm really shooting or not. Really confusing for me. Also, the mic 'lags', if no one is talking, and you hold down circle, you don't get the beep until about 3-5 seconds later. And sometimes the mic just decides not to work at all, but that is only in periods for a minute or so--not that much.

I've only played online so far, whenever I feel like it I'll go play on 1p mode.

edit: Forgot to mention, I love the music, and having your own profile is kind of cool, because its all of your settings and crap, not anyone else (family member or friend or something)

Gameplay feels like a perfect blend of Socom 2 and Star Wars Battlefront. (and Battlefront kinda sucked yanno) After playing for a few hours, it seemed like every map went on forever and the only action I could find was in my ashtray burning away.

The issue with teammates names appearing too late is a problem. Of course it makes the game more realistic, but it also adds an element of aggravation that isn't needed when you're trying to have fun. For those who complain that it adds realism, just turn the teammate names off.

I'll edit in more when I have more time

What I hate is that you have to play every round of a game for it to count on your rank

I came into a game "Fault - Suppression" in a ranked room, 2 rounds late, went 10-6 got MVP, and my rank didn't change from where it was before, so now I'm at 906 or somthing

That's my only problem, I wish it would be more like S2, that any rounds, even if you come late, effects your rank

Socom 3 is perfect. yes there are little bugs here and there but they will get fixed. I love the feature of how the names do not pop up and you have to look at your map. The vehicles are great and the new game modes are very fun. The hit detection is uperb and people seem to be dropping very quickly. There is really no lag at all maybe just a couple framerate slow downs from time to time. The attachments are amazing and the maps are so detailed and big. Some are a little small such as fault but besides that they are pretty much perfect. The ranking system seems to only count games won and lost which is also good. This emphasizes team work so if you come in at the last round, and win you really didnt get to work as a team. This game is great and lets hope Zipper fixes all the little stuff.
