The best, if not, one of the best online games i have ever played. It just feels so right. It feels A LOT more tactical and realistic then previous socom games. At 1st, some people might not like it. But once you get used to it after a few games, its an AWESOME game.

Definitely well-worth $54

9.6/10 rating for me

I will definatley post more, but i'm going to call this Day one: Socom III. (Note I have only played the online version)

I honestly have to say that so far, my experience hasn't been too good. Once again, this is day one so I might change, but i'd like to point out a few things.

Pros-

First off, the control is very solid just like the previous Socom. Nothing is too hard or too easy. It really feels natural.

Team work is definatley going to be a must on this game, and it shows that they really push it as something you MUST have to win.

The different combos with guns and their addons are pretty nice as well. It gives you a chance to test everything out and use them to find out the best playablilty you can get out of it.

Load times aren't as stressfull which is a good thing.

Now the cons-

It seems that some of these guns didn't have a majority difference in terms of "kick" or "recoil" during some games. It seemed like the just moved a little. Perhaps it was just me, but with a lot of the assault rifles I have no problem controlling them. Guns like the M14 on Socom II would have MUCH recoil causing you to "ride the wave" where I haven't experienced that yet.

The one thing that also bothers me (and is probably my biggest gripe) is that it seems this game was BUILT for 32 players. It seems there's hardly any small maps for people to play games like suppression on. I mean, why couldn't they have a few maps made for 32 and some for 16? I played on many maps and it seemed like it was a constant run around for me.. The game isn't fun if you are constantly just running around. Ive been in games where it definatley is smaller than 32 total people, BUT bigger than 16, and I hardly had any gameplay.

The credit card thing (even though it's a great idea) I think was taken to much into heart and really is kind of backfiring. On one hand, you have a chance to stop glitchers/rank ups and so forth. This makes is where you ranks/stats really will show your gameplay. But here's the thing. How are you going to tell if they glitch/cheat? Are they going to have mods that are constantly browse games? This isn't a MMORPG. We don't pay. Which means it's going to be VERY difficult to determine who's cheating or not unless you get a hold of a game mod, (if you can?) hope he comes in the game to actually SEE it, and THEN hopefully do something about it. ANd with this new credit card thing, no one stupid is going to make a ton of rank up games with a name to recognize it. I mean, if they DON'T do that, then how is this going to stop people from narcing on people for no reason, just to get them in trouble?

Another thing is, many households have siblings. Which means, more than one person plays PS2. The credit card thing limits people from playing in terms of keeping personal stats and so forth. Say your friend comes over and doesn't have a PS2 but he enjoys coming over and playing Socom and keeping a record. With this new credit card thing, that won't happen anymore. I personally have a brother and the fact that he can't create his own account until he gets a hold of a credit card (if he can from parents and so forth) is a bit lame. I'd rather take cheaters and rank ups with the fact you can create your own names and have other people play than to limit players and use this to stop glitchers.

For far, i'm giving this game a 6.75 out of 10. I game Socom II around a 8.5+ and I couldn't wait for this game. Hopefully I change my opinoin. Normally I do. Opinions would be great. Perhaps even some to change my mind on things.

bAss Ackwards - first time on, errors and dummies
SORRY LU, THANKS FOR THE DIRECTION

CITADEL EXTRACTION - got the game last night and jumped in an extraction medley (Seals). After getting 4 kills in a hallway in the first round, extracted all 3 hostages the next 2 rounds and each time the game said "Hostages have been rescued" "Terrorists Win!" and scored it a draw??? Next round we fragged the hostages.

HARVESTER EXTRACTION - 3 terrorists came flying at me in a HUMVEE they got their hands on. Took a couple shots at the driver and he veered off the road and took the HUMVEE into the river (near the bridge at Seal spawn, long drop). Ran over to the edge, looked down and there were three terrorists floundering in the water trying to get to the bank. Shooting fish in a barrel, got two of them, then fell down into the water as the 3rd reached the bank and shot me in the head, LOL!

some of you need to give the game a chance play it for a week before you go omg the maps suck or this sucks or w/e you just arent used to it once you play the same map a few times you will start remembering it better

i mean hell gta sa was crazy i would get lost in that big *** map but i have played it so much now it's nothing for me to find my way around

just give it a chance and play it for awhile before you get on here and make 16 topics about how this sucks and that sucks it may not be as bad as you think

I'm impressed and love what they're doing as far as tracking among other things. I love the maps I have played except for CITADEL since hardly anyone communicates on that map... I love the fact that you're almost forced to organize and communicate to get the job done (control). The name thing was weird but the more I played the more I understood that we (team) need to talk and make plans to win these maps. The seemingly endless main menu options is GREAT. Profiles, e-mails ETC... not to mention being able to add friends during a game from either team is freakin awesome, message boards... The list goes on... Right now, I would give it a 9 out of 10 and that's based on about 8 games of play and trying to get all my bugs worked out so I know what I'm doing and where I'm going.

TANK!!!
Yes, Virginia, there IS a S...(+)

Tanks, but the MAIN GUN, the thing ANY good Patriotic American would love to have, mounted on his favorite mode of armored transport and parked in his garage, DOES NOT KILL ANYBODY!

Heck, it won't even blow a hole in a thin wall.

Here is my opinion about this game. (Online only)

The game has wonderful graphics and the maps are very much life like. I mean they are HUGE to say the least. There does not seem to be a map like Frosfire for supression games. This is good but also bad as it becomes hard to find people if there arent 20+ players on. There is no doubt that there MUST be communication between teamates in order to do anything successful in this game. When I played there was not much communication between the Seals (my team) and the Terrorist were just owning us all day on every map. Take note this was a Breach game in random maps. It was quite difficult with no communication.

The vehicles are fun and deadly. Double edge swords you can say. You are a sitting duck when in them, but it takes you places fast. This is by far the most realistic game of this type that ive ever played. The vastness of it all makes it seem as if you were there. The hit detection is much better than before, that's a blessing. I got about 8 kills with pistols against guys rushing me with assault rifles. This means that head shots register alot more often, so for you veterans out there that keep that crosshair high, you will be delighted. I also dont notice much kickback from the weapons.

I only had one gripe with the game so far. The enemy detection has to be changed. In other words, Terrorist look like Seals, and vice versa. There was a lot of friendly killing in my experience. When someone runs towards you, you cant immediately identify him as friend/foe. This caused some frustration and I hope it's taken care of soon. The only way I've seen to detect friend/foe is by the name over their heads, and the name does not pop up right away. Again I died once too many because I kept hesitating after killing a few team members before.

Overall, a great great game IMO. 9/10 is how I would rate it. The only reason it does not get a 9.5/10 from me, is because of the detection glitch going on. Once this is fixed, this game will be insane.

Last night I was really disappointed in the game, today I feel a little bit better about it. The vehicles add a great new aspect to the game, and they're not overpowering at all they can be easily neutralized, so it's not an unfair advantage. I like the turrets on the vehicles. Sniping if F'n great in this game I disagree with everyone who doesn't like sniping in this game. I put a high scope on my M16 and it is godly. People actually will die almost immediatly when you land a headshot, only 2 or 3 bodyshots to kill someone, and like I keep saying I haven't seen one pinch of lag yet, which is awesome.

The map sizes are adjustable, if you are only playing with a few players dont set the number of players for 32. The room can be played smaller and will add baracades and other obstructions to limit the amount of playable area. Also it may be difficult to see your teamates on the screen as there names dont pop up sometimes until your right on top of them. An easy way to avoid friendly kills is to check you compass in the upper right hand corner. Your "friendlies" will appear as blue boxes in the compass so if someone is coming at you and you dont see blue...fire away!!
