Silencers More Popular

A rumor from the Beta was that everyone used a silencer... Heck, i would use one too b/c of the huge maps. But does anyone have any ideas like alimit to the silencer used? I thought about only letting a certain number of people on a team allowed to use one? Senority (like captains and cookies only have silencers)? Any other ideas?

I played Beta and honestly didn't see that many people using silencers. People were more obsessed with other attachments to increase damage, range, or stabilization for their weapons. No doubt that silencers will be more popular with more open maps and areas to hide, but it will not be an epidemic if that's what you mean. There is no downside to silencers. If you say reduce the amount that can be used now we are just heading for certain destructions.

You cannot look at Socom3 like Socom2. It is a completely different game. It is balanced. Everything has a plus side and downside. The result of picking a silencer is reduced power, decrease close range battle skill (more accuracy), increased encumbrance, increased range, increased stabilization, and stealth. As you can see there will always be positives and negatives for each aspect of Socom3. This was innovated on from Socom2 as there was literally no negatives for some things.

Well I don't like the senority idea because that cuts in on people's playing preferences. I think the current system is good because they are making people sacrifice accuracy and power depending on what silencer you pick, then they are going a step further and causing you to be limited to 1 attachment besides the silencer. You cannot have a silencer, scope, and bipod at the same time, so you must sacrifice either the scope or the bipod if you want to be silenced. Zipper is giving the choice to the player, and I think your idea would only be taking that choice away. sorry gonna have to disagree with ya

what i hate about the silencers in socom 2 was when they already take half of ur life than the red arrows finally tell u where they are shooting u from and some times they tell u they wrong directions i hate that hope they fix it so right at the first shot it tells u the right direction

So in socom 3 the silencers increase range and accuracy!? Not only is that impossible, but stupid as well. I mean silencers reduce the muzzle volocity so you don't hear the loud "CRACK" when the bullet goes supersonic. Hence, it being quitier. Because the muzzle volocity is reduced, range, accuracy, and stopping power are dramtically reduced. Close range accuracy, however is not reduced. Unless its a barrel extention with a flash suppreser. The the gun is still loud but theres no muzzle flash.

If you're getting hit by a silenced weapon, there are no red arrows. You can't hear the gun. Silenced. Red arrows do start appearing once the person is like 2 feet away from you though. 552SD isn't really that silenced because people can see the arrows from like 20 ft. away. Oh, and I know that no weapon can ever be totally "silenced", this is just what everybody calls it.

the thing i hate is that there is no such thign as a silenced gun in real life. an m4a1sd is about 100-120db. thats about as much as a blockbuster, a v-8 with no exhaust, etc. you can hear it easily, it sounds like a juiced up nailgun. (a non sd m4 is around 140-150db, just for reference.) the main thing a SUPRESSOR does is eliminate muzzle flash. also, suppressors dont slow the bullet don, sd guns use subsonic ammunition. that eliminates the crack, supersonic ammo and a supressor still leaves a crack. (russian sp series pistols dont have any sound to them, but only have an effective range of about 50 feet, take expensive custom bullets, and justa rent all that great, cuz u still have hammer/slide noise. http://world.guns.ru/ammo/sp-e.htm / http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg156-e.htm) if you manage to find it, theres a history chanel episode on either james bond/spy teck or assault rifles that showcases a suppressed mp5. theyre still wearing earplugs, because its still loud enought o deafen you, and the guy states that it only drops it about 40dba nd obscures the sound, making it less like a gun.
