I almost hate to say this on a message board with so many posters that have mothers (even over-protective ones.)
When I was growing up my mom was unbelievably overprotective, and sometimes she still tries to be. When I was a kid I would get so mad at her because she wouldn't let me go out on a school night, or wouldn't let me watch so-and-so amount of TV, etc. But now, looking back, I'm glad. There are so many mothers that let their kids grow up to be violent, sadistic, criminals. Now I'm not saying violent video games make violent kids (and I don't believe they do) but instead of getting mad at your parents, you should be thankful that they love you enough to try and protect you. This is experience talking, people with protective mothers grow up to be better adults.
Now, on the flipside... it's also wrong of the parents to use violent games as a scapegoat so they can blame their children's behavior on something other than their parenting, but if they're only taking preventative measures, they're not in the wrong, no matter what you think.
