Also, if a mother tells their kid that they can't do this or that or can't play this game, the kid is going to want to do it even more. The kid is going to play the game over a friend's house or is going to do something to get back at the mom. The MAVAV needs to lay off and mind their own damn buisness.

-EDIT-

Violence is everywhere. If there was suddenly a shortage of food, and a kid was hungry, they would probably shoot an animal of some sort so they can eat. Shooting an animal is violent. Like bigmike said, violence is part of human nature.
Bullys are just kids that are not cool so they pick on other kids so they can get attention and seem big. Bullys are often cowards and most all talk. The kids that get good grades and are nice to others are the kids that are cool they have a life and don't have to feel big by insulting or beating up a smaller kid. A lot of bullys have a rough home life where parents don't give much attention or what not.

I almost hate to say this on a message board with so many posters that have mothers (even over-protective ones.)

When I was growing up my mom was unbelievably overprotective, and sometimes she still tries to be. When I was a kid I would get so mad at her because she wouldn't let me go out on a school night, or wouldn't let me watch so-and-so amount of TV, etc. But now, looking back, I'm glad. There are so many mothers that let their kids grow up to be violent, sadistic, criminals. Now I'm not saying violent video games make violent kids (and I don't believe they do) but instead of getting mad at your parents, you should be thankful that they love you enough to try and protect you. This is experience talking, people with protective mothers grow up to be better adults.

Now, on the flipside... it's also wrong of the parents to use violent games as a scapegoat so they can blame their children's behavior on something other than their parenting, but if they're only taking preventative measures, they're not in the wrong, no matter what you think.

YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE MOM?!???!?!??

Anyway... I know what its like... up until like 3-4 years ago my mom was a little bit overprotective... but now she doesnt care (unless I steal/hurt/kill someone) I've known the difference between right and wrong from about 4 years old. Maybe it was because of my mother. She raised me in a way that I would never think of killing someone unless it was justified. I was raised in a way that taught me that stealing is wrong. My parents taught me all about death, killing, stealing, and all that stuff before I got into video games. That way I knew that it was all fiction. Effective parenting involves teaching kids. Teach them about life. Teach them about death. Tell them what is right and wrong. Don't blame it on something else. Just teach your kids as soon as you can.

It's life.

You're better off to do these things at a younger age, in my opinion. You know, either way, these children will be doing behind their mothers backs anyway. It SUCKS to have to do something like that, when it really isn't that bad.

I still remember the time when my friend was playing Resident Evil when I was at his house and his mom came and kicked all our asses (at the game).

Exactly. Kids make up lies when they get these kind of games like saying "M stands for mild" or some stupid *CENSORED*. How can mothers be this stupid?

Again, that's true. Animals kill each other for food. That's also violence.

And parents are the ones who are teaching kids these kinda things. Parents need to stop taking all these drugs and *CENSORED* if they want to stop kids from playing all these kind of games. And before, I did provide a good example of this. It's the parents' faults that kids are getting violent, not video games.
