Im sorry, I hate them. I think it dawned on me when they really came out as sell-outs when I was watching Comedy Central and a commercial was on for the ringback tones with Holiday, than I flipped to MTV and saw the Wake me up when September ends (more like Wake me up when this song ends) video and on VH1 was the American Idiot video. I thought that was ridiculous, coincedince? I think not. But what are your opinions on this band.

I don't know, I really don't like how they are nowadays. But in their early '90s stuff is good in my opinion. They have changed alot, and I think that they are a little too acessible for me. Usually, if there is a band that everyone likes, I'll start to not like that band because everyone else does. It becomes like a fad, and that's what's happening to Greenday now. Just my thoughts though.

I agree w/ romero. They are teh suck. Not so much because their music sucks. More so that i have heard their music more times than i beat my meat. And thats not right.

Once again I find myself completely agreeing with Romero

Green Day lost my interest when they sold out

And yet...somehow...when they sold out, they're music got worse (if that was possible, b/c let's be honest here, their first 3 albums every song had 3 chords played over and over....but it was catchy)

Not to hijack the thread totally, i do agree about greenday although i never really cared ALOT for them before just a few songs (sadly my fav of theres is off the godzilla soundtrack...how sad) but has anyone noticed this trend with all music acts (including rap artists)? I'm refering to music getting worse once they "sell out". Look at big 50 cent (or shall i say fitty cent whos undergound shy was slammin but the newer is just crappy beats trying to push sales from mtv play), Jay z (argue all you want fan boys but everything after the 1st (second album is half ok half trash so we will give it a .05)sucks *** except for a few songs here and there), etc etc. I could list so many with rock, rap etc and all the same thing, after the first album or 2 once the mainstream gets ahold of it and runs the quality turns to crap and your lucky to get 3 good songs on a cd at MOST. It's quite sickening actually. I don' know if it's because they are trying to push the product out every year so quickly, a lack of quality material or what but IT MUST STOP. They (record indutry etc) wonders why people do illegal downloads, burn cds etc well its for THAT REASON FOLKS. Nobody wants to pay 15, or 20 bucks for 3 songs if that ya know. I hope one day it returns to the glory of the past (60's and 70's) where an album could be played all the way through without skipping one song and it all rocked. Some artist still can do this (one of my favorites is Coldplay- every album gets better, and underground rap, along with a select few big name rap artists) but mostly music nowadays is atrocious!

Same thing happens with movies lu and i completely agree. The firsts are usually revolutionary or new and fresh in some way, which catches the public's attention. Then once there is a hype to create another one, the artist is pushed to try to expand on the first in a way that it still appeals to the masses....which ends up sounding/looking like poo.

Greenday needs a new style, Lyrics are good, repetitive songs need work.

All together i give them a 7/10

I don't like Green Days liberal/Screw Bush ideas. Did anyone see That September or watever video..they show American Soldiers Dying!!! WTF! Last time I checked ...YOU JUST DONT DO THAT!!! HORRIBLE I wOULD SMACK THEM!!!
