Can you play s3 on ps3 when it comes out?

i heard that you will be able to play s3 on ps3 and i want to take a poll on who will convert and play socom 3 on ps3 or stay on ps2 on play it and WHY?

Since it is the same game, it may be played on the same servers. As in, you may be able to play with eachother. Just a guess, they might not do that either because of "advantages of the PS3"

Im sure you'll be able to play the offline version but i have no idea about the online version.

Yeah i was wondering if you'd still be able to play S3 on PS3 online... I was planning on trading in my PS2 fro a PS3.

I am sure they will still have it available. The ps3 has nothing to do with the Socom Servers. The ps3 simply allows you to play. If it has an ethernet connection port (obviously) you will be set.

As for generally being able to play the game off of the PS3, I wouldn't see why not. The change from PSX to PS2 allowed you to play PSX games on the new system. The are still having the games on disks, so more than likely you will be able to.

All games will be compatible from PS2 to PS3, just like it was going from the original to PS2. The servers will not make a difference, and if I recall the PS3 will have a builtin network adapter so it's internet ready.

Why in the world would you not be able to play Socom 3 online on PS3? That would be a terrible marketing decision for Sony. The PS3 is coming relatively soon after S3 release, so it better work online on PS3, and so should all the other great online PS2 games (umm... not very many so it shouldn't be hard). [Battlefront 2] [Socom II &3] [Need for Speeds] [EA Sports games] [FFXII?]

Which brings to mind: How will FFXII work for PS3? Some people have an addiction to that game and if PS3 doesn't have a regular sized 40 GB HDD space, those people will kill themselvs. I think they'll probably make a PS3 expansion for it so they can keep all their little elves and such. Sorry for getting off topic...

Even if s3 will be played on ps3, i wont be playign it on ps3 cuz that controller model they have looks liek a boomerang and is a pile of Bs. I also think it would be cool if ps3 players and ps2 players will be able to play eachother online as said above
