Ok: I am a player that thrives for interaction with other people, not only people that I know personaly but also ones that I don't know but we seem to hit it off. I don't really love Socom because of its gameplay, honestly I don't. I love the game because it is a chance to meet new people all the time, and a chance to make a couple friends while playin a game. To me, Socom 2 didn't do much at all to enforce a friends atmosphere. They gave you the friends list yes, but to me, it isn't all to effective. The clan is ok, it is way better than the whole friends list thing, but then again, not everyone is willing to give up a good clan to join one of a friends.
So here is my question:
For all you people out there that know more than me about the upcoming Socom 3, what is Zipper doing to enforce interaction and stuff like that. What have they done to upgrade from Socom 2 to Socom 3? I know that larger clan rosters will deffinately be a big part in getting more people together, but just as in S2, not everyone will just up-and-leave their clan for someone that they've just met over a mic.
Thats what I am trying to say. Friends are what make the game enjoyable. They back you up and all that good stuff. Friends and clanmates are a big reason why alot of Socom 2 players have stuck around
Well, with some new changes such as vehicles and larger teams will encourage teamwork and interaction with other players. Larger teams could possibly finally spark fire teams to be formed from the team of players. I am sure not everyone wants to fight 15 other people for a mic in one game. There are a variety of new friends liss, e-mailing, and messaging features that are being implimented into Socom3.
In the end you must realize some peope just don't do anything to help a team and run off as if they were a free lancer. You cannot enforce interaction and teamwork. All zipper can do is make it necessary in order to win the round.

Thats cool, I didn't know that Emailing would be put into the game.
Even though Firteams and stuff might be formed, how could this cause more interaction between players. Like you said not everone is willing to fight for a mike from 15 other players, I imagine a much more extensive mic system will be put in though. I just hope that interaction will be a MAJOR part in the game. I know plenty of people that run around like a free lancer but it seems to work for them so they continue to do it. They continue to rush forth and either get a kill or two, or get blown up. Teamwork and talk should turn into the biggest part of winning, even more so than now.

By fire teams I meant that select individuals can change channels to one with only them talking on it. That way the team could split into smaller groups to complete certain objectives in order to win. When you change channels you can only hear those on your channel, so it would work out. The mic system is basically the same as Socom3, that information has been released. The only change is more channels I believe.

And Commander, when you say e-mail is it going to be regular email or like you can send mail on the Socom3 network for the other person to read?
It is going to be a menu you can access then write a message and e-mail it to the user. This way even if the user is offline they can still get the message. It will be the same way for friend invites.

Well, like Face said, "friends and clanmates make players stay around." That's exactly what happened to me. My best friend shawn, who is now probably around 16 years old, quit socom2 when he was about 14. I knew him since the begining of socom2. He quit and my other friends went to starwars BF. I was left all alone. I made a new name so I could make new friends, and I did make tons of new friends eventually. When all my friends quit socom2 I was about ready to as well. That is until I met my friend Assassin who is now my best friend. He and all the guys on my friends list made me stay on socom2. A couple of days ago I met up with one of my friends I knew from about two years ago. Now we play together and are awaiting the arival of socom3.

Hey radagast55, spaces at the ends of sentences are great. See I put one right there. I agree, the friends and people you meet over the game are the best thing the game has to offer. If you were to just go around playing by yourself all the time, it wouldn't be very fun at all, and I'm sure you would stop playing very quickly.

Games like Convoy and Control will be a new level of interaction. Even something a simple as a vehicle:
Driver - "hey tell me where i need to go"
Gunner - "just go straight down, we need to get to X location ASAP"
Passenger - "w00t!1!1!!"
Now for a mid-drive conversation:
Gunner - "Damn there's too many of them, Bob [Driver] back and and we'll circle around the and pick off the outside ones"
Driver - "Sounds good to me"
Passenger - "w00t!1 I got a kill!"
Different game:
Driver - "****! They got the bomb, I'm heading straight to our base, fastest route, watch our 6 gunner, passenger, watch our 3"
Gunner - "roger"
Passenger - "RPG ON OUR 3, GET OUT OF HERE"
Driver - "OMFGOMFOGMFOGMFG"
*driver gets away*
Driver - "Hey Jimmy [Passenger] hop out here and go take out that RPG guy please, rendevous at base"
Passenger - "gotcha"
There can be SO MANY new possibilities now that just a simple thing as vehicles is added. But think of it on such a grander scale due to larger maps, more people, more weapons, vehicles, etc. Don't worry, interaction will be at large.
