Beta Gameplay Information (Completed)
I know there has been a lot of talk about posting information, what to post, ect. So I have created this topic for all beta testers to relay gameplay information. This is not to dish out anything you know about the game when you get it. This is to inform people about how the gameplay is for the third of the socom series. Please read and adhere to the rules of this thread.

Rules: No posting of map names, specific map or weapon details, character details, map structures or layout, or any other piece of information that would in anyway spoil the game for other members. The only pieces of information allowed should pertain to gameplay information. This includes but is not limited to vehicle balance, weapon balance, character movement, controls, vehicle or weapon contributions, ingame menu.

Warning: Any post not adhering to the rules stated above will be deleted without question. I will not tolerate any violations as this is a touchy subject. I want people to know more about the game, but within reason. I am sure you can understand.

Zero Tolerance Policy: For the duration of the Beta socom3.com is under a zero tolerance policy. Any sensitive information released on this webiste will be instantly deleted and you will be punished according to the severity of the situation. Please follow the links below for more details regarding this policy.

Is the X-M8 as powerful in game as the video footage makes it out to be?

Topic: Weapon Balance
Information: The X-M8, although previously thought to be quite overpowered from released footage, is rather well balanced with the rest of the weapons available. There are various ways to counter this weapon and panic about it becoming the next M14 can be ceased.


As you can see nothing was spoiled in the game and information was passed along without any problems. This type of information is perfectly fine. This topic will be opened on the day the Kit arrives and Beta testing official kicks off. I will be watching this topic closely, please keep out any useless or violating information.

I have opened this thread up to all Beta testers. Post according to the rules or not at all. Any post without information on Beta will be instantly deleted. Any post in which beta sensitive material is shared will be instantly deleted.

Getting this section off to a start

Topic: Weapon Balance
Information: Weapons in Socom3 are more about choice than power. All weapons are more balanced with the many variations of each. In Socom3 it is more what your preference is for each weapon than chosing the most powerful one. As far as I can tell, not any one weapon is better than the next one. They all have advantages and disadvantages in certain situations.


Topic: Vehicles
Information: The vehicles do NOT ruin the game in any way, shape, or form. They are mostly helpful for transportation. It is pretty simple to take down a vehicle. Two and a half clips of well placed bullets from a rifle can bring down a jeep or humvee. Snipers can shoot the gas tanks and snipe people through the windows or windshield. That goes for regular weapons as well.

Question

I have one question for now. If the answer isn't considered to sensitive or specific I would like an answer. How's the new "quick login" feature? I mean, is it much faster than the s2 login? Basically I'd like to know if it's actually worth a damn?

Topic: Quick Login
Information: The initial login to the game is faster now without the quick login feature even enabled. With the quick login feature you can bypass the menu and go straight to the network configuration identification. Let's just say you won't be sitting around for 5 minutes before you can get online.

Ok, now I will try this question. Hopefully it will get answered. Can you change your weapon accessories between rounds, or are you stuck with a foregrip and silencer if that's what you started the game with?

Topic: Exchanging Equipment/Armory
Information: Just like changing your gun in the previous socom titles, the attachments and weapons can be exchanged after you are dead in the round.

Information: The quick login passes through the normal menu screens like Network Configuration (where you pick home or whatever), universe screen, the name screen (you only have one name saved on memory card too).... and then it brings up the online user agreement which you accept and BAM you're online.

Topic: Attachments
Information: If you mean like in other games how you can silence or unsilence a weapon during action, then no you cannot do that. Once the attachments are on the weapon they are part of the weapon. The only time you can change or detach them is if you die in a round.

Topic: Room type
Information: You won't know what type of room you have i.e. Suppresion, Demolition, Extraction ect. till the game starts. If anyone else can find this please let me know.....
