George Romero's LAND OF THE DEAD
For those who don't know, this is the 4th movie in George Romero's "zombie" world.
1967 Night of the Living Dead (There was a great remake also that I recommend)
1977 Dawn of the Dead
1985 Day of the Dead
2005 Land of the Dead
Being a fairly big zombie movie fan, I have to say that this latest installment was pretty good. It certainly payed homage to all the other movies and I felt it was a solid addition. I'm still not sure if I liked the ending so I'll have to see it a few more times before I say whether or not I hated it. There's plenty of cameos for die hard fans so that was a bonus. There was a very memorable character from Day of the Dead which was a nice surprise as well as a zombie appearance from the father of all gore special effects - Dr.Tom Savini. Simon Pegg (a.k.a. Shaun of the Dead) also had an appearance.
For the younger generation, this may not be the movie for you. I feel you really have to have a good grasp on Romero's world to fully appreciate what Land offers. I highly recommend watching all the other films first before seeing Land. And remember......when there is no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth!

I was talking about this on the chat one day...I love George's work, I persoonally think he is a better director than Spielberg.(however you spell it) I was not impressed with Land of the Dead because the zombies where shooting guns and doing telekenesis by screaming at each other but the blood, gore, Tom Savini making a cameo and those skeleton-looking zombies made up for it big time. I think George has done much better and I think its time for him to hang up the directors chair and settle down with his 16 movies.

If you remember Day of the Dead, the scientist was convinced that the undead could be trained/domesticated. How could anyone forget Bub shooting the j'off at the end of the movie. The whole premise of these movies revolves around the ability of the undead to act on primitive instinct and memory. I felt George played this idea out quite well in this final installment.

Mmmmhmm... and Boba, what super hot chick did you go see THIS movie with? hmmmm?
While I'm not a HUGE gore fan in the least... I thought that this movie was great! I especially enjoyed it because of the fact that not only did Romero take a big chance in "reviving" the Dead series so to speak after such a long time, but he did so successfully without "selling out" to the newfound (and overused) no-so-special effects of today's movie industry.
Since I liked it so much, I think I'll burn Boba's copy of the movie and cherish it for all eternity.
