Where did your online gaming career begin?
I thought this would get more hits in off topic than in online gaming and I searched and could not find anything like this so here it is.

My online gaming career began many years ago with a quake mod called team fortress.
Played on the computer using gamespy to connect. This mod broke players up into 2 or 4 teams with a capture the flag theme. There were 9 different classes of player type to choose from each with it’s own attributes and weapons. Scout, Sniper, Soldier, Demolitions man, Medic, Pyro, Spy, Engineer, and Heavy weapons. I was a sniper the majority of the time.

Just wondering what everyone else’s first addiction was that inevitably brought you to be here today.

I bought the original Halflife the day it was released. After a week of single player, I had beat it 3 times, and decided to try out multiplayer. And so I began. Sniping over a 28.8K dial up connection. Then in the summer of 1999, I caught wind of a new mod for the game, something called Counter-Strike. So I started with CS version 1.1, and the rest is history.

A good ol PC game called Vietcong.

That game is still running very strong and I still play it from time to time. It is a very awesome FPS game and beats up SOCOM in so many ways. It even has two expansions. :)

Starcraft started it all. First person shooters, however, were started by good ol' Call of Duty.

A little gnome on the Torvonnilous server named Atril Asyre was the start to my online future. EverQuest still makes me happy :D, although I must say that Socom II was quite significant as well in grooming my online career.

This was before the 1.4 patch
I was one of the best snipers, then joined the legacy that was DeathSquad. At one point, I was ranked #11, and my clan held 4 out of the 10 best spots. Couldnt stop playing. I would allways do my homework in between respawns.

Diablo 2
I love RPGS and this one just got me hooked. Rather than play legit, I scammed people and got the best items in the game. This is one of the most addicting games ever, and I would suggest not getting into it because you wont pull yourself away from it.
