You watch, they'll probably have an open mic concept like they do on Madden 2005, but on Madden you have 2 people fighting for the mic as opposed to 16 on a team.
Either an open mic, since pushing the little button to beat people out would be a joke, or it will be a proximity style mic system. An open mic, but the closer you are to a person, the better you hear them.
Or, They'll have 4 seperate channels and you switch to the channel you want and talk to whatever team members are on that channel.
Honestly, I don't know, but I think they're going to go with the open mic concept. However, you'll get the people that will constantly talk and never shut up, and then that will ruin it all. We all need to vote those people off (i.e. little kids, the extreme pot heads that are totally lost, people who are jackasses and like the sound of their own voice).

Don't they have an open mic in Star Wars Battle Front? I played Splinter Cell Pandora Tommorow for the PS2 and it had an open mic in it. When ever someone would be breathing too hard you kept hearing like air being blown against the mic and it was like extremely loud static. I really hope SOCOM III doesn't have an open mic.

Maps 6x bigger, that will help reduce the lag....and yes they will most likely have an open mic.

or they may not. in fact in s2 you can have three ppl on the mic at the same time! did y'all know that? nobody uses the offence, defence channels. they are there for a reason. for s3 they probably make more channels to accomadate (sp?) the 8 extra players.

Open mic can KILL the game. Imagine having 16 players calling out where mines are at the beginning of every round........WOW!
There would be 6 TK's at the beginning since everyone heard nothing clearly and people are still trying to plant mines and throw grenades...LMAO!

Open mic sucks. I remember they had it in sw:bf and i allways got stuck on the team with the kid that breathed really loud or the ones who made the gun noises even though the game had sound effects.

My open mic experences with other games:
You don't know which player is talking
It never really worked right
I couldn't hear anybody
My mic doesn't have a mute so when i'd talk to someone sitting next to me I felt silly........i didn't feel like takin my mic off
I hope they stick with the orginal mics where one person talks at a time with different channels for in-game. And they should have an open mic in the lobby or somethin.

I noticed in the videos that it was still the same as SOCOM II. But the icon is changed to that of a headset when you speak, and it still shows who is talkng, where they are talking from, and when they are talking.

I like the idea, of having four channels, per side. Something like, blue, red, yellow, green. That's if there's a full room. You could talk to your color, open mike. But if you wanted to call something out, to the whole team, you'de have to switch to the team channel. And depending on what color, if you popped smoke, it would be that color. I know that's not on topic, but I just want to see colored smoke. :D
