Let me just correct a few things for you. As your statement was full of errors.

Reality: Halo 2 has triple the amount of glitches and cheats. Something is also unique to Halo2 online; standby. People use the standby button on routers to stop the game for everyone but themselves. It is to the point where you cannot play a single ranked game without getting cheated against. All anyone uses (I, myself, was one of the original users of the combo and have no remorse or regret for using it) is the plasma pistol to battle rifle combo. Back in November and December only a handfull of players knew about it, but now it is the only thing anyone uses. Much like the IW for socom.

Reality: Halo2 has great online options, yes. However, the inability to choose your own maps, guns, or anything for that matter in ranked matches makes socom2 the game of choice. Matchmaking is the most retarded piece of crap in any online game. You should have complete control (like socom gives us) over everything in game. The way socom setup their servers was fantastic. A little work needs to be done on the quality of the servers and the servers themselves for that matter. Xbox is always going to be faster. Unless you opporate your online for ps2 through the HDD xbox is going to be far more advanced 10/10 times. Unfortunatly the downside to this implication is that you have to pay monthly to play on Halo2 or any live game. There are ways to go idle, as in make your own game and sit in the lobby. However the game only takes up bandwidth while you are in an active game. Thus, this would never mess with servers. Those "BRB" rooms are annoying, but the same goes for socom. You don't really mess with each server unless you make 1000 rooms. The universe or other servers will not be affected even if that was the case.

Reality: Day of release I was hopping around on the vigilance rooftops. Socom is popular and glitches will always be found. It is hard for them to get everything. Daily maintenence may be more than sony picking their arses this time round, and perhaps we will see more done to repair these glitches and server faults. Halo2 has far more glitches as stated prior to this comment, and compared with socom I would say this ratio is accurate: For everyone 1 socom glitch there are 10 halo glitches. Just because you know socom better does not mean there are less glitches in Halo. I can think of 20 right off the top of my head and I haven't played since january.

Reality: You are blind if you think Halo is a clean environment. There is more racism and cursing on that game than any other online game I have ever played. The typical Halo2 player is an 8yr old who thinks throwing racial slurs he just learned at school to anyone online is funny. Everyone cheats, and when I say everyone I really mean everyone. Have you looked at the ranks lately? If you think Halo2 is a clean environment you are poorly mistaken and utterly ignorant. Halo2 offline missions were great. Socom, in my opinion, has always been gimped in offline play. This time they are working hard on offline and it will prove to be excellent. I will get Halo3, but I doubt I will play online after my experiences with Halo2.
