Rank System rant/thoughts for Socom III

Rank System rant/thoughts for Socom III
I believe that ranks and insignia ruined socom II. Nothing was worse then hearing little kids scream and curse you after losing stating losing rank as the reason for their anger. This can be entirley steered around with a few tweaks.

First off, eliminate rank specific rooms. They make people cheat and glitch and get angry at the game just because the don't feel special.
Secondly, eliminate options to shut certain people out. If you don't want someone in just vote them out. For tryouts for clans, what does their rank matter if they are great players and will help you win wars. Rank comes into play there, clan rank. Clan rank should be based off stats like kills over deaths and not a point system. A total amount of kills for the clan then the percentage over deaths would work out the hard work of players even if they get screwed over in ranking system loopholes. Next, the insignia should be taken out. I don't know what it is but people get oddly ballsy when they have a silver bird next to their name. Players shouldn't feel superior because of one bird. Take out the insignia and base your "talent" from your skill not your insignia.

My Idea for a ranking system would go a little something like this. Ranking charts for players should be based off a point system but a revised one. This should make kills over deaths the main portion then rounds won over rounds lost the secondary. The turtiary part would be if you win or lose. Don't penalize good players because their team was really bad or they were outnumbered. This would also eliminate ranking up somewhat. It would be harder to do and less important if there was no insignia, no bonus for getting rank, and if it took more to actually set up a rank up room.

I just hate rank, and it obviously shows. Sony should really work a superior system of rank out before the release of Socom III.

They should just keep track of people's stats. I enjoy seeing stats but not rank.....especially when I have a friend in a certain rank only room and I'm not that rank.

Yea, exactly. People need a system of rank though. They won't get rid of it entirely. I mean the socom I ranking system I don't remember thinking about rank once. It was just something personal that didn't benefit anything. It was pride more than bragging rights and insignia in socom I. I believe there should be a system of rank, just obscenely watered down from Socom II's.

yeah great points! I like having the symbols and stuff next to the name, but I dont base people of ranks. You cant read a book by its cover. But they should base the rank system off of your stats, not your whole team. It is true that sometimes a good player does get stuck with a crappy team and gets demoted. It happened to one of my friends dosen of times. Also the rank system should not be based of those numbers. My numbers are currently like 135000000, im a Lt. Commander, but I have one friend whose numbers are in the 500000000 and hes a captain ( I couldent firgure out a way to say this without sounding like an ******* ) but they also have less kills and more deaths then me. But the ranking system should be completely remade for SIII.

Yea, I feel your pain on the getting stuck with horrible teammates and losing stats. The single worst thing about the stats system is getting voted out. If you enter a room and a clan is controlling it, if they just don't feel like having you in they vote you out without even talking to you. You lose rank for getting voted out, and that is rediculous. Some people deserve losing points but most people are just on the bad end of a prejudice situation. Just one fo the many things that should eb taken into consideration before launching S3.

I kind of like the ranking system with insignias that SII has, I felt good when i first got my wings but it does get annoying listening to all of the fights people have about there rank and others ranks.

The Halo 2 system might work, where everybodies rank goes up from one or zero to a max of 50 or 25, I want there to be some ranking system just so I can see how I stack up against other people online.

Do you know whats going on with Halo 2 right now? You cannot honsestly participate in 4/7 ladders anymore because of cheaters. Cheaters are lured in by being the best. Rank is the most important thing to cheaters and glitchers, so the easiest way to eliminate the bulk would be to tone down the way we rank people. If that means eliminating insignia because a few hundred people arent mature enough to handle it without cheating to raise in rank, then so be it. I'd rather there be no ranking system then one like socom IIs, if the system doesnt get conpromised that is. I want a ranking system aswell, just not as lucrative as the one in S2.

I hate it when there is idiots who vote any one who joins out in a public room! Especially when they are having a 1v1 in a public room! But on the thing with Halo 2, if you abort in Halo, your rank doesnt go down. I dont want that to happen with Socom, because then the people who cant accept a loss, wont get punsished, the people who stick to the game will. But something should be done with the aborting crap. As I said in the Rank Rave/Gripe topic in the Online Section: Socom's ranking system is like a powdered donut. You will never know whats gonna come out of it. Whats in that powdered donut on the table? Boston Creme? Jelly? Nothing? All you have to do is take a bite and see what you get. It is the same thing with the ranking system! One day I was playing and the glitchers came out to play. I aborted maybe 2 games because of glitchers and I get demoted from a Lt Commander to a Lt. No big deal I didnt really care. But then I play some more I played around 10 games and aborted about 5 or 6 of them and... my rank stays the same??? How is that that I abort to games; demoted. 5 or 6 games; my numbers even stayed the same? Dont get me wrong I was very grateful I didnt get demoted, but then I go play another game, and the glitchers came back to play. I abort one game and get demoted? Tell me that doesnt make sence. But since that ever so confusing day, I got my rank back up to normal, but all you have to do is bite into it and see what you get.

With the Halo aborting thing, you do loose rank. It hits as a loss but only after you play your next ranked match and it records it. You can theoretically go from 50 to 1 if you keep aborting. thats how people do boosting for clans, another cheating aspect of halo. With socom its something like the rounds you played in the game compared to the total rounds played during the game. However getting kicked from a room just hits you as a loss and then some right awat on socom.
