Will we need the hard drive for s-3

I don't think you'll need the HDD, or will it be that big of a difference if you have it or not. And to those who are trying to still buy one, why waste your money? I borrowed my friends HDD and I've had it for a couple of weeks or so now... I've played Liberation-twice, AfterHours-once, Last Bastion-once... You're not missing much.

I agree with JAR. I don't think the 3 HDD maps are that good. After Hours is kind of cool, but IMO, I think it's too big.

Well it would be different if everyone had them.. but since the majority doesn't, it's pointless.

Good thing I ahve the harddrive, I just hope they don't put the new maps in a friggin magazine like before. They should just let you download them over SOCOM.

ok since i havent posted here for a while i will not quote due to all of the things i will discuss.

if you have a slim PS2, you can still have a harddrive. its called an "external" harddrive.

after hours isnt that big after your second game.

you can get a harddrive at amazon for 75 dollars if the user buy smart now is stil up, or risk getting one from ebay. either way you will need paypal

if you ned the OPM discs, go to ebay. i cant find them anywhere else. or just ask me. i got em from ebay and there barley scratched. congrats to gkolb.

liberation is a map that requires good team work. hide the vips in the house, second aley to the right, and clear the alleys from there. hide in the market from there. i still havent cracked this map yet.

in last bastion do not use the one breach where you always get sniped or grenaded. its called the suicide breach for a reason. instead run down to the silent breach. sony put it in there on purpose. you have to run down the left path next to the bridge while facing the gate. there will be no C4 breach there. its to the right of the lil house thing. strafe jump onto it and run and jump over the pole. if you mes it up but still get over you might loose health. im halfway done figureing this map out. must pul self away from suicide breach and move twords silent breach.

after hours is a very good map. there are many vantage points that you can climb to that are above the majority of the map. some vantage points include the cyber caffe, the cyber caffe roof (jump to vents and face wall then climb), the apartment building, the top level of the parking garage, the walls next to the fountain/center court, the vent-garbagecan overlook (right from seals spawn), and the tire garbage can. if your a terrorist and you have to hide from the upper levels and cant get to the cyber caffe or the tire garbage can roof then take entrence "3" into the subway. hide in the wall indents. the subtrain is a while from there, so dont risk it. stick to the color of the number to move around in there. num 2 exists next to the parking garge, num 5 exists next to the seals spawn (and a short walk from the parking garge and is next to the train), and num 3 exists to the terrorists spawn. i almost have this map down.

I Socom 3 is coming out in OCT an the Ps3 is comeing out in the spring of 2006, so with that in mind will dere be any updates for the game an will is coast money

By all reports, SOCOM 3 is coming out on August 15. I didn't know that the PS3 had a date yet. And yes, SOCOM 3 will cost money. Probably around $70 CND including tax.

It has not been confirmed yet, as was stated previously in this topic, if the hard drive will be a requirment for the online play or even offline play of socomIII. I believe this would be a good idea personally, as then it wouldn't take up so much space on the memory cards and you can play online without the disk. However, if you play through the HDD and on the ps2 online service "PlayOnline" you will have to pay. I have stated numerous times on the site, and so have other people, that this would be a great direction to go in for the game. However, we will have to sit tight and wait for confirmation from our very own Chief who will be going to the E3 show.

I wouldn't buy the HDD just yet if you don't have the immediate resources to do so. If you can't get it, hold off on it. Although we needed the HDD to get the new maps (which only promoted the HDD) I believe that those maps will be automatically included in the next game. But then you need to think about new content through the HDD such as updated weapons, new weapons, new maps that could be released later on after the release.

I have my HDD and had it for a little over a year now. I believe it is a good thing to have, but if socom3 doesn't require it to play I would just wait. Between Xbox 360 and PS3 it just isn't worth it. If PS3 comes out in early or even late 2006, like I hope it does, then they will probably make socomIII compatable. Maybe it will even be like the ps2 where you can play the older games on it. These are all things we will need to wait on and see.
