Nyko AirFlo Controller

I got a Nyko AirFlo XL controller for Xmas in 2004. It is a great controller, it has little fans built in and vents in the grips. The fans have a hi-lo-off setting. When the action gets hot, I flip the fans on and cool off, no more sweaty hands!!

Well, the controller starting acting up the other day, the right analog stick would drift out of the dead zone and the character would continually turn right.

Since it was a gift, I didn't have the receipt, and I tossed the original packaging. Just for giggles, I emailed Nyko today at noon, telling them the problem, and asking what my options were to get it fixed or replaced. I didn't expect to get any reply, typical with most companies.

I just got an email back (the SAME DAY), they told me to send them the controller, they would promptly send me a new one, free, and they would pay for shipping!! In this day and time, that is rare indeed. I just wanted to tell everyone here what a great company Nyko is. I have large hands and the OEM Dual Shok 2, and other controllers are just 2 small. The Nyko is a perfect fit, and the fans are really cool, literally! I don't mean to post a mini-review, but the controller really is sweet. All the buttons have a nice, sharp click, the vibration is perfect. Some controllers are too weak, and I had a MadCatz that vibrated so hard it actually caused interference with the TV! I broke the MadCatz in half when I lost a GT3 race by a few 100s of a second, it was not well made. Even though the Nyco has a vented grip (with air holes) it is very solid. The grips are very comfortable and it is sculptured to position your hands in a very natural position. It is also very responsive, I keep the Look Speed and Acceleration maxed out, and the dead zone around the 1st tick mark on the bar. The controller costs a little more than some of the others, but trust me, when you're 15 minutes into a FF respawn with 8vs8, those fans make all the difference in playing comfort!

My friend has one of those. However, I don't buy anything but the standard Dual Shock 2. Everytthing else seems to break easier.

Back when I called sony about my controllers (and how they don't vibrate ) the person at sony didn't really help me but they said make sure you never use any other products for your PS2 unless it has the SONY lable on it, if not don't buy it. So I stick with SONY brands but that controller does look cool.

My original PS2 controller has over 500 hours of Socom battling on it, not to mention countless hours of GTA, and I never had to change the batteries or get a new one.

Every controller that I buy that isn't a TRUE sony one never lets me go back into the crouch position if I stand up or go prone. Can you with this one? Cuz if so, I want 1.

I have the same exact controller as you....I love the fan and all...no wires...but...NO VIBRATION!!! Vibration is probably like one of the most key things to me in SOCOM....if i have the volume all the way down and have no vibration on and some fool is shooting me with an SD I'm a dead cookie ya know...so it's great for games that dont really require vibration like GTA:SA....but for SOCOM vibration is a key KEY KEY thing....can you spell KEY??? K-E-Y!!!

It's funny that last night some guy I was playing with started talking about his wireless controller with the fan. I don't know if it was the same one but he said on the box it said batteries last 500 hours without vibrate, 50 hours with vibrate. Thats pretty good either way if you ask me. 500 hours is long as hell.

If your analog joysticks seem to be stuck or your character moves in circles, pull out on the joystick until you hear or feel a click.
