Your first online experience
Does anybody have any interesting stories to share about their first time playing Socom online? I am fortunate enough to have just such a story.
I had played Socom 1 for a long time but never played online. Finally the moment of truth came upon me. The network adapter hookup went fairly smooth and I was officially online for the first time. I had absolutely no clue what the heck was going on in the lobby and had no idea how to even join a game. Long story short, I had joined a Frostfire room. After greening up, the wait to commence battle was taking forever. Finally, after what was probably a good minute of waiting, there I was at the bottom of the right ramp of the terrorist spawn. I took a quick look around because I had no idea where anything was and then BAM!!!! Killed by a grenade in less than 3 seconds. I shut it off and didn't play again for a week.

I can't remember exactly what map I entered when I joined my first online game. The only thing I do remember was that I got lost. I spent the entire time running around looking for other people. My team must have won, because I didn't die and the round ended.
The rest of the rounds I ended up much like a cockroach on a full dance floor.

I remember that I played Vigilance first. I think that it was respawn too.
It wasn't terribly hard to find my way around, but it took a while to make the tactical switch from single player to multiplayer.

I watched my son play for a while and he kept saying "Try it! try it!". I played off line for a mission or two to figure out the controller and finally gave it a shot. He helped me get going and tried to guide me through a few games. He'd be saying, "no, go there... Run, RUN,... Shoot. It's the R-1 button... Don't just stand there like a target... aim, Aim, AIM, geez dad". At some point he just said "gimme the controller back before you ruin my rank", and that was it.
But I couldn't stop thinking about the dam game. I still suck, but at least I've learned how to enjoy it. (The game, not the sucking part)

I had never played Socom 1 so when I hopped online with Socom 2, I knew I was ready for some whooping. I was a seal on Enowapi my first game. My brother in law (onimushawarlord) decidedd to drop a grenade on my head! I lasted all of 8 seconds and he still holds it over my head to this day......LMAO!

I actually really played the online FIRST and I was nervous because Socom II was the first game of its kind that I played. (That type of shooter/game) My friend told me to just go online and learn there haha.
Well, I just went to automatic game, and thank God it put me in a Vigilance game where it was 3 or 4 on 3 or 4. That round I killed someone and I got killed. When they were dancing on me, me and my brother and friend started hell of laughing. I soon made it to where once I woke up I played.
I then stopped after too long because I got into otehr games, but about 3 months ago, I went really deep into it, and play everyday. :D

I also use to watch my Son play, Socom l. He was playing on-line, with some friends. I got hooked watching him play. At work, I was checking Ebay, and saw a Playstation w/ Socom l, for a good price. It had about 2 minutes to go. My bid won. I played single player, till I felt pretty comfortable with the setup. I'm not sure, but I think first on-line game, was Forbidden Jungle. I was killed pretty much every time.
My Son got Socom ll, and really liked it. I recieved it for Christmas, last year. My first on-line game I played Seals, with my Son, on Foxhunt. We got our butts shot off. Took me days, till I got use to the new control set-up. But I've been hooked, ever since.

mines had to be the most horabe of them all. I joined enowapi as a terr and i was lost. i couldnt see anything and it was all dark. some one said you should go down the ramp with a shootgun, and i was like ramp? wheres that?. so i went running around looking for it and dodging imcoming grenades by pure luck and i ended up running up by the bridge breach and falling off the mountain. i was tramatized from playing that level as terr so after the game i tried seals and im not ever going to start talking about that experience. but i over came everything and i can play just about every map.
