New Idea For Rank on Forums.....

ok after discussing with a mod through pm's (who i shall leave nameless so his pimp status does not effect this poll

) i was told to throw it up for a vote to see what "the people" think :D so heres idea.....

ok this is my idea to throw a lil spice, excitement, newness to the forums for the dedicated and soon to be dedicated. i was thinking at 1000 posts or so instead of being uber spammer or whatever it is now that we are able to request a "nickname" to name ourselves.

thats how it would look since id obviously choose sensie to be mine

i just figured it would lend a lil uniqueness to the hardcore members and give us a lil something to look forward to.as long as the name you choose is not offensive,racist, etc or just in bad taste then it would go smooth, plus the "mod" wouldnt have to change too many considering 1000 posts is alot and would take anyone a long time to get to without spamming (which we look down on)

so i bring it up to my peoples....what do yall think if you vote yes then its a go, if no then i will ****ing cry :(

lol no for real though up to the good people at this site, and no it wont go to the electorial college and your vote WILL count

ps if your gonna vote please take the time to write a lil summary of why you voted the way you did and/or why you like/dislike the idea. also chip in an idea of your own if you like, we all family

you may have a point, maybe 600 or so? somewhere around there so achieavable yet still not that easy to spamto get.

Personally, I like the idea; but as of now, I would have to do all the changes manually (more work than it may seem), and would have to remember who got what in case I ever needed to change it. The system doesn't just let you write something in - you have to "add a new rank", then "assign the rank" to whomever wants it.

I do like the idea, though, like I already said. And if enough people vote yes, I think it would be worth the time to do it.

May need some tweaking with the numbers though, I'm not sure. 1000 posts seems like a lot, but so did 500 when the site just began. :D

P.S. - So many views and so little replies...? :( Also, look at the bolded letters.

I love the idea, it gets kind of old with the same old "rank" on the site until you reach a new post count and this would certainly entertain a few people.

I don't really like the ideas sorry. This would also mean alot of work because dakilla as he said would have to make a whole new rank just to give it to one person. So if alot of people reach that 1000 post they will be alot of ranks just for one person. Im sorry guys just don't like the idea.

EDIT: notice how i am the only one who voted no...im sorry guys...its just my opinion.

And wouldnt this be an incentive for spamming?

I can see the spam race now.....

It would just be another excuse for people to try and get that "cool" nickname. I think the ranking system is fine for you people, but not me.
I'm not one to brag about myself just because I got a certain number of posts. I'm just glad to be able to post on this awesome forum.

I like the idea. I don't see it as an incentive to spam, however. I think of it more as an incentive to stay active. I also think that 1000 posts is a good number. It means less work for DK, and people with 1000 posts are the least likely to leave (except for people with 2000, of course). It should be something really special for people who have contributed a hell of a lot to the forum, not just people who've done an average ammount.
